2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Wallace isn’t making it to the Timberwolves pick.
Crazier things have happened (and the Wolves pick is tbd), but I am also skeptical. I am just going to start saying the "Group of 11" to refer to Wemby, Scoot, Miller, Thomspons, Whitmore, Walker, Hendricks, Wallace, Dick, and Black. Feels like consensus is gathering that they will all be off the board by 12 (not necessarily in that order, of course).

Let's go Spurs!

I think we can trade the Minny pick with another pick to move up to get him… if we want to. I’d say a Cavs or Minny pick… I think the Lakers pick has more value in our hands than in a trade. The protections might ding it just a bit.

I would really like to see the Jazz get one of the Thompsons in this draft. They need an elite on-ball player, a big guard or dynamic wing, and that will go a long way to defining the future of the franchise. Having a size/length/athleticism advantage on the ball would go a long way, and there are literally two, twin Penny Hardaway types in this draft.

Pairing a Thompson with either Clarkson or a shooter with our cap space sounds like a great match

Locke mentioned the Jazz needed a PG and a player like Kelly Olynyk.

We going to get a Cason Wallace/Flip draft if we stay at 9 and wherever the Wolves pick is.

You think we would take flip with the wolves pick?

Btw dont we already have a KO type player in KO?

I'm kind of getting nervous about Hendricks. His path to success is being a great, efficient scorer, and I'm not sure he can get there. If he can do a dozen things great at a college level but all of it is average or below at an NBA level then he may not really have a defined role as an NBA player. If he was being projected as a sit in the corner for threes and play good defense guy I might actually be more high on him, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't know jack ****. So he's probably a future all NBA player. And I'd be excited if we got him. But it's pretty easy for me to envision a scenario three years from now where he checks into games from the bench and people say "oh yea, I liked this guy, what happened?" And he just never quite found his role and just kind of does everything at a mediocre level.

It's pessimism season though. Way easier to talk yourself out of most guys than into them based on whatever tape, stats, etc. we have for them.
At the very least, isn’t Hendricks Jaden McDaniels? A frontline of Walker, Jaden, and Lauri would be incredible.

Our first pick better be a long athletic dude, Dick or Hendricks. I like Wallace but not with our first pick. This team needs a lot more athleticism and lengthy compete with the Grizz, Kings, Pelicans, etc of the world.

I think one of these dudes is going to see q chance at being a top 5 pick next year and stay in the draft
