2023 NBA Draft Megathread

It's Orlando that I could see taking Wallace or Black. They've already got Franz, Paolo and WCJ in the frontcourt. Their backcourt is a bit patchy. Gary Harris is non-guaranteed. Cole Anthony is a backup. Fultz is UFA in a year. Jalen Suggs has started to emerge. Cason Wallace could come in and replace Gary Harris from Day 1.

Orlando also has another pick at #12 right? One of Black or Wallace would surely still be there.

Or they could trade back from #6 and picking up an asset in the process.

I just don't see them reaching for Black/Wallace at #6 with the Top 7 more or less locked up (Wem, Miller, Scoot, Amen, Aursa, Walker, Whitmore)

See if they're still at #6 after the lottery. They could drop a couple spots.

4. Ainge seems to like size/length. This is my personal hypothesis looking at his past decisions such as trading the Fultz pick to grab Tatum, Marcus Smart being Boston's point guard, him picking Dunn from the DLeage and this year trialing THT (which he traded for) as the point guard.
How tall do you think Marcus Smart is? How about Kris Dunn? Kyrie, Kemba, Avery Bradley, Isaiah Thomas, Terry Rozier, Carsen Edwards? Ainge-length theory isn’t quite there. I do agree that length is preferable, however I think Wallace’s defense is so good that it negates any size issue. I think you need to watch his highlight video again.

This is my opinion, but I think that Wallace’s defense is superior to GG’s offense and his offense is heads and shoulders above GG’s defense.

I know that there’s a lot of “consensus” guys who should be there at 16, but I’m hoping the Jazz are in a position to take a shot on one of GG Jackson, Sidy Cissoko or Bilal Coulibaly at that spot. I just love the potential for all three guys to hit, and I think Hardy and Co., could do wonders with a guy that has any of their athletic profiles.
I endorse this post

Your hatred of GG is completely insane.

Really....so GG is just going to walk in the NBA and will never have to consider defense or making a pass. His biggest fanboys are literally wanting to see him make a single pass lol. But it's "insane" to think that has to change.

I think you're completely insane if you think he doesn't have to change.

Well, again that's why I said it's my hypothesis.

I'm excited to see what Ainge actually does at the draft.

But my hypothesis is he's NOT targeting a point guard. I think he's targeting long scoring wing to pair with Lauri ala Tatum & Brown pairing.

It's one thing for a prospect to have a weakness and say, "he'll improve, get better at it, and one day might even be good at it".....but to totally dismiss the question mark and actually consider the thing he sucks at a strength is too much for me.

Consider Dariq Whitehead's finishing at the rim, it was awful at Duke. He's young, he has a reputation as an explosive athlete around the rim, he was injured, spacing will help, he was the #1 ranked prospect.....yeah there's a lot of reason to think he will improve despite his terrible performance. But even though I like Dariq I'm not going to sit here and act like it isn't a huge question mark. There is reason to believe he will improve, but there is also reason to believe that this area of his game will remain a weakness and you have to acknowledge that even being average at the pro level at this skill will be a big improvement.

Would it be worth trading 9 and 16 for 6 so we could get a Thompson or Cam? I would be tempted.

So if we're looking at, say, GG & Cissoko VS Amen Thompson.. I'm going with GG & Cissoko.

Kessler, Lauri, GG, Cissoko on the floor together coached by Hardy in 2-3 years time could be monstrous.

Davion Mitchell is playing meaningful clutch minutes down the stretch against Curry right now in the playoffs. If you can play defense you have a role in the league.
