2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Cam is the ideal, or at least he can become the idea fit. Lauri is better off the ball on both ends. We need a ball in hand scorer and a primary wing defender.

Beyond fit I just think his speed+power combo is elite. He's not a perfect prospect, but as with Anthony Edwards sometimes you've got to stop nitpicking and realize talent right in front of you. Same is being said for Twins, I suppose, but Cam is much younger and did not play in an AAU tournament.
This is a great post. Probably the best post regarding Cam. His speed, athleticism, fluidity, and nba body pops off the screen. The fact that he has proven he is a good basketball player is well is just icing on the cake

Donovan is awesome at mid-range, SGA, KD, etc. I think you need to have one to be an elite scorer.
I agree... I just don't think he has to be mega-elite as a scorer to be a great player... since he is a good defender. I think he could be a 20 ppg guy on good efficiency without too much of a mid range game... and that would still be a huge win. I think the midrange game can come later I guess... if you get to that question you have already won.

Still not clear why win now teams would trade their high picks for more numerous worse picks when they’ll be targeting established players.

I (still) think it’s more likely that Orlando trades back.
3-5. Sounds like Scoot, Amen or Cam for the Magic. It may not happen for the Jazz folks.

I think the 9 + 10 play is the best realistic option for the Jazz.

You can also get mid-range scoring elsewhere. If Cam had everything he’d firmly be in the conversation for 2, not mocking as late as 9.

I agree for sure but the way people are talking here makes me think that.

Sexton is very very good in the midrange. I dont have the stats but he seemed elite in that regard to me from watching the games.
He definitely is very good in that paint non-restricted area push shot. I think he's too short to be a real intermediary mid-range threat (like the 15-20 range), but within the paint with that quick push shot he is lethal.

Split the asset up so you can use them in multiple trades. If this deal happens I think its 6, 11, and Wendell Carter for 3 and Nurk (maybe Simons but I'm convinced he should be an asset). Then you can trade #6 for something and take a player at 11 you like. So you add a couple players and one prospect... way to split the baby if you will. There likely isn't a player for the #3 pick type of trade that works straight up for both teams.

They really just need to stop messing around and move Dame but they can't quite do it.

I would laugh if they did.
This is a big reason all their earlier attempts fizzled. They conclusively proved just throwing a bunch of athletes on a team without shooting doesn’t ****ing work.

They have a good thing going, but going out and getting the worst shooter of that class of prospects would be a silly mistake. Amen might just be there at 6 anyway.

Personally, I think OKC is high on Keyonte George and Jordan Hawkins and they're looking at all kinds of scenarios to move around. They want a weapon shooter next to Shai and Giddey. They might take Dick if he were available at #12, but he's not expected to be.

A team to watch for Bufkin is Toronto.
I wonder where they are on Ousmane Dieng. They gave up a decent amount of draft capital to get him. The fact that they got him and Jalen Williams last draft would kind of pour some cold water on them being linked to Bilal. Not that it's impossible they are 100% in on him, but they seem to have bigger needs than another long wing.

I also dont think Keyonte or Hawkins are need either seeing as they have Joe.

The most obvious needs for them are more front court oriented power players, either big forwards w/ size or true bigs. I think you would be insane to try and compete in the west and not have bodies for Nikola Jokic. I think Lively still makes the most sense for them or they try to snag a James Nnaji at some point by trading back into the first. Also think Klintman would make a lot of sense if they dont care about a project. Or try and trade up to get either Hendricks or Walker. Or take Miller at 12.

But they might just go BPA and ignore need all together.

In response to @Elizah Huge rhetorical question….

Guys I’m happy with at 9 - Hendricks, Black, Wallace, Bufkin, Ausar, Walker

Guys I’d be okay with but not thrilled - Dick, Bilal, Miller (I like him but we can get him later I think).

Guys I’d be furious about - JHS, Lively (would only happen if DL hacked the Jazz draft).

So like just don’t piss me off please?
