2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Yeah I think the route to cap space is if Kyrie bails out.
I know Kyrie is Kyrie and anything can happen, but the Dallas GM and him have a great relationship and I'm pretty sure he's already promised him the bag (more than any sane person is willing to), which is what Kyrie wants above all else right now. I think they are operating under a pretty firm belief Kyrie is back.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

Of course a crazy trade could happen that changes things by a pick or two, but every indication for the pass week has been his range is 9-16 and recently it has shrunk to he wont fall past New Orleans and has even grown to "Is Detroit trades down they are targeting JHS".

So Detroit - who has drafted ballhandling guards the last two draft with top-5 picks and are garbage at the forward spots - are going to pull a bunch of **** to be sure they can get a guard that can’t play off the ball?

Look, I know you’ve been chugging that JHS ayahuasca but it’s time to back off.

Ivey shot 34% from last year.

I now Cade didnt shoot well his rookie season, but the belief is that he will be a good shooter.

I dont think Detroit is operating in the mindset you are in regards to their shooting. Teams prioritize talent and Detroit has a thing for plus sized players w/ that dog in them.

I agree.. that's why I think they hunt for actual players with those bad contracts instead of space. In our mock draft I had Dallas and turned 10, Bertans, McGee into John Collins, Royce O' Neale, Jaquez, and TJD... I could see them doing something along those lines.

I'm curious about Wasserman's comment that Whitmore is likely to slide because of medical concerns. Has anyone seen what may that could be referring to? Is it lingering problems with his thumb from early last season? Something else?

I'm thinking this may be some FO leaking information in the hopes that he'll fall.

His shooting really worries me and I think the Jazz should prioritize shooting with a non shooting center projected to play huge minutes for the foreseeable future.
Shooting usually gets better with these kids. If that is the one and only thing, I don't see why worry about it so much at this stage.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Ainge has done his thing with Detroit and Black is in his bag already. Now we just wait to see what he can do with Sexton.

I think it's just some BS a team told him.

Yes, I want to leave getting franchise changing talents up to chance when every indication these are lottery prospects.
lol
Franchise changing talents? Should probably try to trade up to #3 then to take JHS and trade up to #4 for Bilal.

I’m good on Bilal, if we draft him at 16 I would understand it. If we draft him at 9 that would be catastrophic.
7 spots can't equal catastrophic for me. If he's good, he's good. And thus, worth the pick. If he stinks, he stinks, and it's a bad pick. I guess if like 5 players between #9-16 become all stars it could look extremely ugly. But that seems unlikely.

#9 and #16 feels like enough equity in this draft to land both of them. But maybe not exactly at those spots.
