2023 NBA Draft Megathread

i agree that jjj isn't a good comparison for hendricks. hendricks will block some shots in the nba, but he'll never be a shot blocker - more similar to lauri who gets some blocks, can protect the rim at times, but at .6 bpg will never be confused with a shot blocker. and that brings us back to the better high side comparison for hendricks - lauri markkanen.
I think people forget how hard weakside shot blocking has gotten in the NBA. Even if you put prime AK/Josh Smith in the modern NBA they would struggle to average 2 blocks per game.

Keegan Murray was a pretty strong weakside rim protector in the Big 10 (2.2 per game in Big 10 conference play, which blows away what Hendricks did a weaker conference) and is a relative non-factor in the NBA.

I was very low on Tyler Lydon and didn't think he's an NBA player. Their stats might be similar but their games are not. Hendricks is very likely an NBA starter IMO.
What's so different about hteir games? Both were mediocre rebounders w/ mediocre inbetween game and were known as being soft around the rim. I know they arent 1:1 comps, but they are closer than people are willing to admit (but like I said, the athleticism gap is real and is what will allow Hendricks to have a solid career)

Is Hendricks in between game mediocre? He's not a ball handler but did some stuff in the mid post. Is hendricks soft around the rim... cuz there is a **** ton of dunks that say otherwise.

Dunking over people does not make one tough. He's weak and did not handle contact well on finishes around the rim where he wasnt able to elevate over AAC competition.

I've already accepted it's what will happen. I'm prepared to be disappointed and I hope I'm wrong about his career trajectory.
Its going to be so fun to see Taylor go for 18/8/2 on good efficiency and then have you talk about him missing a ft in the 3rd quarter that cost us the game and call him a scrub.

Nah, I wont be a hater if he gets drafted. I won't claim him as my guy or anything, but I'll let him have a chance.

But after 3-4 years and he's just a mid tier bench player, yeah, I might talk some ****.

Going and dunking is not soft around the rim. He is not as strong as he will be but my god go look at some of the blocks he gets and come back and tell me he is soft around the rim... Jebus man. Soft and not strong are not the same thing. Soft implies he avoids conflict around the rim... weak means he isn't absorbing the contact as well as you'd like.

BS... you will ship his *** to the G League in the pre-season... book it.
