Trade ideas

Just a random stray on Lavine. the Rights to Ricky Sanchez brought up a straight trade of Harris for LaVine and both guys passed without a lot of thought. No picks involved and they hate Harris (they constantly complain about him... hate might be strong but they don't value him much at all). The contract was the issue. Just food for thought.

You would have to be an incredibly specific type of team to really value LaVine.

1. You would have to have someone on your roster at a high salary who you view as being an unimportant contributor
2. Your team would have to lack a legitimate scoring option outside of your primary creator or have overall poor shooting
3. Your team is probably low on assets and this is the only game changing type trade available.

Just dont know if that team exist. Orlando still makes the most sense to me, but they are so early in their process they would probably feel silly about going after LaVine.

I had to look up what rights to Ricky Sanchez meant. I think we have a better claim on "Rights to Ante Tomic" and how come that isn't the name of a Jazz podcast?

Oh I thought about it. You would love these guys... they are hilarious, abrasive, and very much challenge the establishment guys.

Or have a GM who is a scavenger and thinks he can get a #2 guy on the cheap.

Lavine is very much like the Drummond situation in Detroit. An empty stats guy who doesn't make enough contribution to winning and sits on a big fat contract. I can see Bulls having to let him go for a couple of seconds like Pistons did with Drummond if they let the situation drag on for too long

I dont think LaVine is empty stats, he just doesnt contribute much outside of shooting.

Their situation is made more complicated by the fact they should have rebuilt like a season or two ago and seem to think they'd rather continue down the path to mediocrity.

I think he'd have problems on the true contenders as he seems like a guy that would make too many defensive mistakes or bad decisions at the wrong times. Though Wiggins locked in for a couple seasons so who knows. I think he's a guy that helps teams in the 20-40 win range but also might be the type that makes sure you never go over 50 (if he's the 1st or 2nd banana). Now he makes enough that its tough to have him as the 3rd guy on a great team... and his skills might not work.

On top of that there are some injury concerns.

I'm not not interested in Keldon Johnson. I think he's a good player on a fair contract. Just don't know that there is much more to juice to squeeze and he doesn't do a ton for us. Just wouldn't pay what it would cost to get him. If they want a solid first for him I think they can get it.

Funny thing in that trash Ringer trade the article says "if we are willing to sell high on Lauri"... bruh that is selling super duper low. OG was traded to Indiana in the article for a better return.

Lauri super underrated by many in the media. I'm sure NBA teams aren't that dumb.

Potentially a hot take, but I actually think Zach would look quite good on a better team. I don't really buy into the 1st option 2nd option thing, but I think the "issue" with Zach is that he's not really an offensive engine. He can be an efficient high volume scorer, but when I watch him play he's not really stressing the defense as much as you would think he would. He's not like Don where Don was collapsing the defense over and over even if Don himself wasn't super efficient or racking up big assist totals. He also isn't like Lauri whose producing that offense with a tiny amount of touches.

I think if you put him on a good offense with someone else who is true offensive engine he would really thrive. Well, maybe he'd be the same but people wouldn't be as down on him. I think he has a very versatile scoring game that would allow him to play with just about anyone. Sometimes I think we get too caught up with the floor raiser/ceiling raiser stuff.

If you are a Kuminga believer it's not a bad trade, but I'm just not.

Its funny cause the write up says "best player (concievably) available" and he praises Lauri, and the he puts up the peanuts offer.

And obviously he also proposed him to OKC later in that piece so that means he believes there would be a bidding competition.

Weird guy.
