What's new

Donald is about to go through some things...

Just watched his post conviction press conference (well most of it. I couldn't make it all the way through)

So much useless nonsensical irrelevant ranting.

He definitely has a new favorite word. Conflicted. He uses it as often as possible lately. So cute that he is still learning about new words this late in his life.

Nothing he loves more than hyperbolic extreme adjectives though. Most, biggest, best, worst, longest, hardest, meanest, etc etc etc.

He is such a caricature. Perfect word to describe him. A picture, description, or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect. He tries so hard to keep up his public persona.

Oh and he loves to play the imaginary accordion while speaking. It's hilarious

So bizzare. Even by Trump standards this is ridiculous. The man is SUCH a piece of **** to drag our country through his psychosis.

Do you believe the jurors were biased, coerced/manipulated by the prosecution or both? These were people that both prosecution and defense were satisfied as being impartial.
I do not believe the defense would agree the seated panel was impartial, only the best they could do of the pool of jurors made available to them. As for being manipulated, the whole point of letting trial lawyers speak is to manipulate the jurors into delivering a favorable verdict for their client.

Were they biased? Sure. Everyone has biases. Were they manipulated? Yes, but that isn’t in and of itself the issue.

You mentioned the judge was, "the right judge", is there any evidence of the judge having any bias against Trump?
Do I have evidence Judge Juan Merchan donating to Biden’s Presidential campaign, and to a group called 'Stop Republicans'? Yes, and those donations were prohibited under state judicial ethics rules but Judge Merchan did it anyway.

Do I have evidence Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter is the President of a company whose revenue sources include the Biden campaign? Again, yes. Biden Campaign funds are enriching Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, and Judge Merchan issued a gag order to forbid that fact being mentioned.

Perceived being the key word and the factor you're not really acknowledging.
Knowing that English isn't your first language, I think you are misunderstanding that word. A thing that is 'perceived' is observed, understood, or grasped. While it is possible for something to be perceived to be not real, that usually isn't the case.

Does it help you if the sentence had been written as: "he is their retribution against observed enemies" or "he is their retribution against understood enemies"?

  • Hmmm
Reactions: MVP
So weird that I saw something mentioned everywhere despite a gag order to forbid that something to be mentioned. It's almost like the gag order didn't prevent anyone from knowing about it.
Poor trump. Always the victim.

If I observe or understand a pillow to be my enemy does that in fact make the pillow my enemy? Or would it just be my strange and incorrect perception of the pillow being my enemy but the actual truth be that the pillow isn't my enemy.

Trumpers think I'm their enemy because I hate like trump. But I'm a gun owner who believes in the 2nd amendment. I'm extremely anti immigration. I hate abortion. I want less government and less government spending. I think Biden sucks and want to vote for someone else. I love America.
Am I really their enemy because they observe and understand me hating trump or is that just their incorrect perception?

Thanks for being condescending. Not like I'm a high school English teacher by trade.

The facts don't matter. How you feel does.

“I do believe the Supreme Court should step in. Obviously this is totally unprecedented and it’s dangerous to our system,” Speaker Mike Johnson said.

“This is diminishing the American people’s faith in our system of justice itself and, to maintain a republic, you have to have that, people have to believe that justice is fair, that there’s equal justice under law.

“They don’t see that right now and I think that the justices on the court – I know many of them personally– I think they’re deeply concerned about that, as we are.
In theory, the case eventually could be taken up by the Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, due to three justices which were nominated to the bench by the former president.

Imagine if the trial was still going on and Biden spoke to reporters and said "trump really needs to be found guilty and I think judge merchan will step in and convict him himself, jury or not, I know judge merchan personally"

Trump’s defense attorney, Todd Blanche, told CNN on Thursday that his client had not received a fair hearing. He said that it was not possible to assemble an impartial jury in Manhattan and that it had not been “normal” to bring a case concerning events that occurred eight years ago.

Not possible to assemble an impartial jury in Manhattan? As of 2023 there were 106,000 registered republicans living in Manhattan. There are also a ton of independent voters in Manhattan. All they needed was one juror to say not guilty. The evidence must have been overwhelming.

Trump’s defense attorney, Todd Blanche, also suggested that Trump’s appeal of the conviction might center on those accusations of bias, the location of the trial, its timing during a US election year and the salacious testimony of Daniels.

So the appeal wouldn't be due to any issue with any of the actual evidence.

It’s true that this case was initially a federal case, initiated by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. In fact, they’re the ones who prosecuted Michael Cohen, who paid Stormy Daniels in the hush money scandal. At that point, did federal prosecutors conclude that the case was simply over and walk away? Not exactly."

"What they actually found was that Cohen acted at Trump’s direction and to Trump’s benefit. Why didn’t prosecutors pursue the matter further? According to Geoffrey Berman — the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, who wrote a book about his experiences — it’s because there was political interference from other Trump appointees who ordered prosecutors to end their investigation."
"Indeed, according to Berman’s book, then-Attorney General Bill Barr not only intervened in the case, he tried to kill the ongoing investigation and even suggested that Cohen’s conviction should be reversed."

"The GOP committee chairs wrote yesterday that federal prosecutors “determined that no additional people would be charged alongside Cohen,” but they conveniently overlooked why they made that determination."
"It wasn’t because of a thorough review of the law; it was because Trump’s attorney general told them to stop — because in the previous administration, the brazen politicization of federal law enforcement was the norm."

New York State Judiciary Law § 14 - Disqualification of judge by reason of interest or consanguinity - doesn't require a Judge to recuse himself in the circumstances that Trump's lawyers have described (eg, Judge Merchan's daughter, his $15 campaign donation years ago).

This is why the NY Supreme Court denied Trump's Motion to have the Judge recused.

New York State Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics - opinion Trump hush money case:
"On the facts before us, we conclude the judge’s impartiality cannot reasonably be questioned based on the judge’s relative’s business and/or political activities, and the judge is not ethically required to disclose them."

Over the course of the past several weeks, a jury of 12 everyday New Yorkers was presented with overwhelming evidence — including invoices, checks, bank statements, audio recordings, phone logs, text messages and direct testimony from 22 witnesses — that proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Trump illegally falsified 34 New York business records

I'd be interested in your evidence.

Evidence of Judge Juan Merchan donating to Biden’s Presidential campaign, and to a group called 'Stop Republicans':

Evidence of Loren Merchan, Judge Juan Merchan's daughter, receiving $9.6 million dollars from Biden/Harris:

The money to Loren Merchan is still rolling in, but now through more opaque SuperPACs.

Judge Juan Merchan's gag order to forbid talking about Loren Merchan's receiving money from Biden/Harris:

Seriously don’t ask for evidence, they don’t know what that is. Their evidence is dense conspiracies and feelings. It’s just like their principles, constantly shifting or just non existent.

I find it so cute that conservatives feel like they’re all anti-establishment now. So hilarious, sad and quite typical. Late to the party and out of touch. You’re like boomers who just heard RATM for the first time and think “yeah, I won’t do what you tell me!” Co-opted outrage thinking you’re on to something. Guess what dumb ***, it’s been this way for a long time and you chastised us for being “un-American”. Yeah go **** all the way off.

Many of us on the left have been screaming this since Bush, hell since Vietnam. Our government is corrupt. But not because it’s pushing socialism and wokeness, it’s because is murderous and bought—and- paid for. Once you get your heads out of culture wars and white suprematism asses, you’ll see who’s using you and your anger.

Instead of ignoring us and not researching our claims, maybe you should be intellectually honest and start reading into systematic racism, the corporate welfare state, and unregulated capitalism aka our brands of fascism. You’re glib and it’s annoying. Catch up!

Nobody takes your claims seriously because they are stupid on the face. In one sentence you made claims of “corporate welfare state” and “unregulated capitalism”, which are opposite concepts. The first is the hand of the state advancing corporations while the other is the state being completely hands off.

…And conservatives aren’t anti-establishment. They are pro-establishment but anti-corruption of establishment, and most non-braindead Americans share that. Homeless encampments of addicts in piles of filth is what ‘no establishment’ looks like.

Yes you have been screaming anti-establishment since Vietnam. It was dumb then. It is still dumb now and it is not what most are upset over.
