Off-Season Rumblings

Agreed. Some teams go from bad to good. Some teams go from mid to good. Some teams go from bad to mid to good.

There is no exact formula or recipe to this stuff.

You can be mid and draft an MVP with the 18th pick and quickly win a championship.

You can be bad and draft an MVP with the 3rd pick and build around that dude for a few years and win a championship.

You can be mid and make a trade for an MVP player.

And so on and so forth with a hundred other scenarios.

Wise words

But if you’re stranded in Macon, Georgia, you shouldn’t balk at the flight to Denver because you’re waiting for the non-stop to Sactown.
Well said.

If we could get to Denver great but right now best we can do is a $59 ticket to Bentonville Arkansas with no promise of ever getting out… just save your money or drive to Atlanta to get a direct flight to the promised land.

All I know is going from bad to mid right now costs us whatever the acquisition cost is and a 2025 lotto pick that will convey. That’s a pretty penny to end up stranded in one of the Dakotas.

Locke kinda talked about this on his last pod. Said wasn’t sure how we get out of the “box”. It sounds like he is pro-tank to me… you can make moves just to make moves for slight improvements or you can crept the pain of a slight step back and accelerate later when it makes more sense. Sprinting to the middle seems silly to me. The difference in being the 6-7th worst team in the league and the 12-13th worst team in the league has big implications on our future. If we think we can be top ten and the acquisition price isn’t horrible… okay… but those moves are tough to see.

It isn’t bad. Usually fly to Tulsa and drive, though, because I don’t want the long layover at DFW.
Exactly… just wait or make some arrangements to make your trip smoother.

BI is Denver. Not saying you can’t continue some tanking but the odds of tanking and ending up have a BI or worse be the best possible outcome of tanking is drastically higher than not. Continued tank may be like driving to Atlanta to find out your best bet is… a bus ticket to Denver.

BI is a first class ticket to Iowa hopefully your connecting flight doesn’t get canceled cuz it was kinda spendy for Iowa. If not you are living with the children of the corn or waiting a few days for the next flight.

Feel like we could be on track to trade for LaVine or Ingram then sign Bridges in FA using our cap space.

Given the choice of Lavine for “free” or BI at what I think his market will be… I would rather bet on Lavine.
