Jazz select Cody Williams at pick 10

I completely disagree. The more good weight you have the stronger and more explosive you are. Nba players get beat the **** up driving the lane. At 170 something he’s going to try avoiding contact, having the extra weight will help him absorb contact and finish better. I’m not sure a guy like Mitchell would be the same player if he played at 180lb’s.

You misunderstood or didn't read what I said. You were talking about AK not being able to put on weight and my only point was that it might be slightly less important in today's NBA for that to happen. My post even said that it is still very important to have strength.

Time, NBA nutritionists and a pro strength training program will help immensely. This was a pick with the long-term in mind. Upside is as high as any other player in the draft tbh. His biggest detriment is his size, which is fairly easy to correct.

Now, if the Jazz draft Furphy today, we know DA officially has a “type”.

I definitely don’t see someone historically thin for his size when I watch the highlights. Maybe it just stands out more when a skinny guy is 6’10” or whatever instead. But it doesn’t concern me a whole lot for Williams at this point. Looks like a frame that can easily add weight as well.

He certainly was never a guy I was excited about leading up to the draft. But that is completely arbitrary and random. Highlights look pretty good. I’ll get excited about this one.

Colorado listed him at 190 to start the season. Maybe something happened that caused him to lose weight. Might not eat enough during the season to maintain his mass. Or maybe he really cut pre-draft for athletic testing?

The weight is not a concern at all. I weighed about 50 pounds more at 28 than I did at 18 and it did not require effort at all.
Oh come on, some effort was required. The donuts didn't float to your mouth after all. TV doesn't watch itself. Etc.

Whatever Cody's weight is, he gets knocked around and loses his balance at all contact. Even if the scale doesn't say 178, he looks and plays like he's 178. I don't think either rookie will be able to contribute quickly, though Cody may get time just for development.

Another reason we should tank at least the next two years. Lol

Agreed. When I watch highlights I don't think he looks any thinner than Hendricks or McDaniels or Durant or wemby or young gobert or whatever. Most basketball players are pretty skinny

came out of that video with one realization: dude definately skipped leg day. his upper body looks pretty good from other videos, but those legs. wow. well, even if he doesn't put on a ton of muscle, he at least needs to build some strength. (i am excited to get this kind of talent on a flat draft, and i am hopeful)

I was thinking about this today and I would agree. Although I think Brice is up there.

Keyonte's quickness, shiftiness and potential to drill 28-foot 3s off the dribble are pretty attractive. The only question is efficiency. Brice has a nice in-between game. I'm also curious to see what Collier looks like.

How quickly do you guys think Cody will play? I’ve been pretty vocal about my concerns with him, but I think trial by fire will be the best choice for development. If it were up to me, I’d start Kessler/Lauri/Hendricks/Williams/Sexton. But we know that won’t happen.

I wonder where he starts the season relative to Hendricks and Sens.

I see the vision on Cody. It’s hindsight, but I fully endorse the pick. His biggest weakness is weight/strength and inexperience, the two things that track favorably with being a OAD. No obvious holes in the skill set, size, pedigree, flashes, but also maturity. I see it.

He could still bust out but the upside is there.

I think he might have a pretty rough rookie season, though.
