The coverage is that the Clips aren't welcoming him back but are willing to work on a sign and trade scenario with him.
 
Yeah, can’t say the Lowe clip makes me think a Lauri trade is any more likely. It’s the same “teams are calling, Jazz don’t want to trade him” talk we’ve been hearing for a long time. Like if one of these guys can talk about a Lauri trade without saying it won’t happen in the same 10 second time span, I will start thinking the tone is changing.

Why would Philly work a sign and trade unless the clips give them something… they can just sign him outright. The opt in and trade scenarios are dead.

It was unprompted though. They were talking about Philly.

Look there are things I know and things I don’t know. The things I know could logically extend to the scenario that I’m not sure will or has happened. But it won’t be because nba players can’t relay messages and that GMs are afraid to tamper.

Yep. I agree. If George wants to go anywhere else he may need their help, however. Clips are likely screwed though. You hate to see it. . .

The tone has absolutely changed from say the trade deadline to now. Before it was “they are shutting down all interest” to “keep an eye on this situation and teams are calling”. They have to say the second part so people don’t get wild. I still think it’s very unlikely.

NBA Trade Rumor: No one is untouchable for the Utah Jazz, will take a lot for Lauri Markkanen

The Hoop Collective had a lot to say about the Utah Jazz

They went on to talk about how no one on the Jazz is untouchable in trade talks. Players like Kelly Olynyk and Kris Dunn were mentioned but the big name they talked about is Lauri Markkanen. MacMahon says the chances are slim that Markkanen gets moved because of how much it would take to get him. If someone gives the Jazz an offer they’d be dumb to turn down is basically what it will take.

This coincides with what we’ve heard with other reports.

This was back in January.

Yes and McMahon said around this time that OKC would call and DA would ask for J Dub and picks. It wasn’t really serious and may not be serious now but when Lowe is unprompted mentioning it’s a situation to watch and it’s only about Lauri it’s different than someone asked on a pod when talking about the Jazz… believe what you want.

Okay. I'll believe that if the Jazz get an offer that blows them away, then and only then will they trade Lauri.

Which is what has been reported since January.
 
I still think it’s unlikely but Morey has done **** like this before. I just see a scenario out there now that could lead Lauri to want out… Lauri has a mechanism to use to make it happen if he wants to. The money should give us the ultimate leverage but maybe it’s not good enough.

Lowe didn’t say we have to get blown away. Said to watch the situation. Said it’s likely we renegotiate and extend. Mentions it unprompted.

I guess everyone can have their own opinion on it…I am not convinced and don’t see this as much different than the other stuff. There can always be a surprise, for example, I was actually surprised on Bridges…but smoke wise I think this is more of the same.

I feel like we’ve been hearing this stuff for some time now. Lauri is a big name, it would make sense if the Jazz were open to trading for him. It make sense that teams are circling like sharks. It’s interesting to talk about and will make headlines/clicks.

Like I said, if these rumors don’t come with the caveat of “it’s not happening”….I will sense that the tone has changed. If the caveat of “it’s not happening” is included, I will continue to believe that it’s probably not happening.

He also said nothing to indicate that has changed - in fact he said the opposite - that he doesn't think Philly has enough and he doesn't think Utah would trade him.

But if you wanted to hear somebody literally say, word for word, that they have to get blown away, then Woj said exactly that.
 
I think the reason there's more noise has less to do with the Jazz changing their stance and more to do with teams calling and inquiring now that we're in the offseason. As Zach said, "Teams are calling".
