Jazz sign Svi Mykhailiuk for 4 years, $15 mil

What if Ainge is slowly but steadily descending in the sudden onset dementia or something similar? The Jazz office and fans trust his decision - this is the almighty Ainge! - and find justifications for each of his moves... but two years from now they are going to look back and shout "How could anyone miss that, it was so obvious! All the signs were right there: not commiting fully either to tanking or competing for playoffs, trading away Fontecchio, signing Eubanks, signing Swi, trading for Collins! Were we blind?!"

I am in the great minority on this board but I think both Ainge and Smith have made a number of head scratcher moves over the last number of years. He got very lucky in Boston. Hope he gets lucky again.

I'm with you. I haven't been at all impressed with how things transpired since the Mitchell/Gobert trades. But the team has a ton of assets, so hopefully my worry is premature.

If he has some chance of becoming a decent 3&D guy from the bench then it sort of makes sense as its a 4 year deal.

Last game he played in G League was in 2022 showcase, where he finished with near triple double with 35 points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals.

You don’t have much patience do you?

and why should i? i endure the ads, i pay for tickets, for streaming (not me but some do) why should i if i don't enjoy the product. also, i consider tanking like using cheat codes in a game. did you really win if you cheated the system to leverage better players? that's not why the lottery is there, it's to help bad teams get good again, not to help average teams get a leg up on other teams. i won't deny being freakishly honest, it's who i am. again, 'so sue me' i want not just the jazz but every team to just do the best they can with the players they have and see who wins. i hate the tank, and i don't care if others think i'm naive.

Yep you called it.

You’re naive.

Tanking isnt a cheat code. Its a strategy that has risks much like any other strategy.

Regardless of what strategy you choose the goal is to first and foremost get that MVP caliber guy. The FO made it clear trading for a star was their preference but the best player available last 2 years has been Lillard, who is not only too old but also not even a top 10 let alone MVP caliber player.

rename this site 'tankfans' smh. i still want to win. so sue me, i hope he plays well and we get that playin game. we have enough picks and youth, it's time to take that next step.
We all want to win. Other fans just want to win even more than you do and understand that the path to get those more wins is a strange and unfortunate path

Need a kleenex?

So does this mean no Procida this year
Roster looks complete now
Maybe some trades now
I would’ve brought him over, but I think they’re hoping to see him:
A.) get (and stay) healthy and
B.) replicate and build in his successful season with another

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that they’re planning to bring him over next year, which (hopefully) means he’s healthy and has another year of development under his belt. Hopefully it doesn’t raise the cost to bring him over significantly by waiting.

It’s still interesting to see the team continue to operate by focusing on getting young guys on team friendly contracts and see what they can do with them.

I loved the moves for Bazley and Lofton last year. This feels like an extension of that concept.
