Game thread: Game #19 : Trail Blazers at Utah, Monday 01/30/2012 7:00 PM MST

If you rematch the game, these lanes that opened up the slashing through the paint opened up AS A RESULT of the team focusing on shutting down aldridge. When the team found out that Kanter could hold Aldridge onto his own, then everyone else focused on their own assignments, and our defense thrived because of it. The jumpshots towards the end occurred because they spent 12 seconds on the clock trying to give aldridge good post position, and kanter wouldn't have any of it. Go and rematch the 4th quarter. Perfect example was in the 4th, when LMA was fed, and then Kanter swatted it away, but got charged in the foul. That play was run strictly for LMA, and it took Felton (or Jamal, forget who) like 4-5 seconds of waiting until LMA was in a good position to get it, only to have it swatted away.

Also, tell me: who led our team in offensive rebounds?

Kanter and Watson were the two keys to this game. The fact that you haven't complimented Kanter once so far is proof that you're just a garbage poster.

You still do not get it. I was talking about Blazers going into jump shooting mood in 3 quarter when Kanter was not playing - that's when Jazz made the run and cut to 1 point. Reread my posts, I said he played good post defense in 4th quarter - is that not a compliment? Anyway, discussing basketball with you is like talking about colors with daltonic, they still see red where everybody sees green. You think Kanter won the game for us? Fine, believe it... some people still believe Earth is flat.

In the post game interview of LA, he was asked about Kanter and Favors defense if it made a difference. LA said "not to be mean but not really" he said he was winded from that run he has and that the Utah Jazz as a whole focused on him more so he just passed it outside since guys were open.

Got it. You dislike Kanter. Moving on ..

So a team just randomly decides to enter Jump-shooting mode??? Got it. Aldridge also beasted all the way through the 3rd. It was the 4th quarter when he started slumping. Nice try, though. What are you know, 0/71?

It seems you will never get it so just give up.

Gutsy win. I thought the Jazz might have had it after Batun went nuts from the 3 point line.

Actually he cooled off late in the 3rd while Sap was still on him. He bobbled a catch, but still shot it right away and missed it short. Then Crawford came in the game and had some TO's and quick jump shots, helped get LMA off rhythm. Not saying Kanter didn't play good D, but it's not like Kanter extinguished his flame, it was already mostly out when Kanter started D;ing him up.

I have to disagree with this. LMA was killing us. Coach changed what was being done with him. Namely, putting longer players on him. LMA stopped being the killer.

I want to add...

I really wanted this game. IMO this one is even more significant than the 1/2 game in the standings. This was a playoff game.

Utah was getting bullied early and had every opportunity and excuse to let it go. But they did not. This was a statement game. A game in which the guys that thought they were dictating got bullied themselves.

IMO this was THE game of the season so far. It's been a long time since I've seen my team respond like that.

We will lose games that should have been won too. But this one was special to me.

Liked the way Ty handled the subs. He let guys play longer than normal it seemed when they were going well. He basically let the starters go the whole 3rd as they started playing well toward the end. Then he let the subs go almost the whole 4th as they were doing well, like Kanter. Props to coach.

The biggest improvement of this team through this season so far has been the aggressiveness from CJ. No doubt, he is bringing something we are lacking as that 6th man.

this^. dalamon, why don't you argue with Cyrone instead of trying so hard to find something to disagree in my posts?

I was surprised Mathews had such a poor showing, he had some open shots from 3pt land and just missed them.

Also not sure why people can't somewhat agree on the 4th Qtr, yes Portland mostly took jumpers and that worked out well for the Jazz obviously (other then Batum's 3's) but why did they start taking jumpers. Was it because they felt they would win, they didn't want to win or was it the Jazz started playing more aggressive and Porty didn't fight through it and settled for jumpers?

I am going with it is a combination of what you said minus them not wanting it.
