On a sidenote while I think we played nice versatile offensive ball (by todays NBA standards), Kings lack of versatility was pretty disgusting.

Their whole gameplan had just two types of plays.
1) Let De'Aaron cook
2) Run some screen on the perimeter to get a 3 point attempt up

They had 2 players who had more than 2 attempts from inside the arc: Fox with 26, and Alex Len with 5 (most were putbacks after OReb).

He played 3 minutes and 17 seconds. Clarkson subbed in at 7:02 left in the 3rd. He got a brief 55 second break in the 4th but subbed right back in and played the rest of the game.

The "deal" is that he can't shoot. Simple as that. I know it's hard to comprehend since he's tall, white and went to Duke, but it is what it is.

But he shoots 39% on the 3-pointers?

Hardy obviously wanted to win this game, like all the other games this season so far. He played Clarkson a lot in the fourth quarter rather than Flip because Clarkson is a veteran and maybe also because he won us the last game, but this backfired on Hardy because Clarkson was the one who lost this game for us

It must be frustrating for Hardy to watch his players not pass when a pass to an open 3-point shooter is available. This happened a few times again last night with Clarkson, Sexton, and Collins, who paid no attention to Lauri, Flip, and Juzang being open behind the 3-point line.

Lauri made just 8 field goal attempts in this game and has averaged only 11.8 attempts per game this season. This pretty well sums up our current roster. Except for Flip and Collier, none of our players have the natural talent, awareness, or willingness to make plays and move the ball.

I mean, that's mostly on Lauri. If he cant get his own efficient shot, he's going to struggle to always get a lot of attempts. The Jazz have seemed to have moved away from force-feeding him a bit.

Because it's 4-on-5 on D every time Sexton is on the court. He looks like he's hustling, but none of it's beneficial to preventing the opponent from scoring.

On offense he believes he's the superstar player of the team and no-one else should touch the ball. This goes for JC as well, but everyone agrees that that's just who he is. Everyone else was just standing as wallflowers on O the whole quarter while Sexton and JC took turns pounding 20 secs off the shot clock and putting up some random **** or throwing a last second grenade to a teammate. When everyone else is completely disengaged on offense, this leaks into the D as well and it's hard to be as into it.

The Jazz had a real shot when they were up 9, 7, 5 pts.

This was one of the most mind-boggling plays of the whole NBA season. Down by 2, first take off half the shot clock. Then go before the screen is set, then go again before the screen is set, lose the ball - game over. And of course play with blinders on, so even if he hadn't lost it, it's a 1-on-3 Sexton against Lyles, Huerter and Murray.

It was funny reading tank fans panic on this chat without realizing how decimated the Kings rotation was.

The fact that we lost this game is actually a massive W for the tank, as playing a mid team like Kings without 3 of their 5 best players and with us having rest advantage felt like a schedule W.

Agreed. The Kings are not a deep team, and one of the main reasons why they've been good in the past two seasons is that they never get hurt. The team the Kings rolled out a decimated, terrible team who were already tired from the night before. I thought there was no way the Jazz would lose at half time, it was remarkable that the Kings were able to hang in the game that long. This win is as if we beat the Wizards who were on B2B where they played overtime the night before.

I don't want to take anything from Fox because he was great, but realistically any competent team should not allow that to happen.

Replace Sexton's minutes with any league average player and the Jazz have more wins.

Pick any advanced stat, any of them, and Sexton is one of the most horrible defenders in the league. Look at EPM: Sexton is the 4th worst in the league (with Keyonte at #3 and Scoot at #5).

Playing Keyonte tons and letting him do his thing is at least understandable - find out if he might be valuable to the team moving forward. Whereas Sexton is what? Well, we know he’s not an iso player (although it seems like he’s working on it this year), but he would obviously get more field goal attempts if he played on a team that had good playmakers and moved the ball.

Dude, those advanced metrics have as much to do with the team as the player and Sexton is almost always the one directing traffic on a bad team.

Still .2 blocks compared to zero for Markannen. C’mon, the guy is seven feet tall for Pete’s sake!
