Can the C.J. Miles experiment please end?

CJ had another pretty good game. It seemed like when he'd chuck up a 3pter and miss he'd really make a point of getting to the rim the next time.

His hustle was very good tonight. I was drinking and had distractions but to me it looked like a good game for CJ.
 
Would anybody be in favor of benching Raja in favor of C.J. and then giving Raja's minutes to Alec Burks? The one thing that C.J. seems to have really improved this season is his defense. He is also driving to the basket much more and not settling for long threes as often. Hayward also seems to play better with C.J. in the game. Miles is simply a much better offensive player than Raja and makes our starting lineup more potent. Having two offensive-minded wing players in Miles and Hayward should theoretically open things up for Millsap and Jefferson down low. Both Miles and Hayward are play makers, which should take some pressure off of Devin Harris to be the sole facilitator. Raja Bell is NOT our future at shooting guard. Alec Burks needs more playing time. I would go with this depth chart:

PG: Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Jamaal Tinsley
SG: C.J. Miles, Alec Burks, Raja Bell
SF: Gordon Hayward, Josh Howard, Jeremy Evans
PF: Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Derrick Favors
 
I don't know if he had such a good game with Sacto. Yes, he did drive to the rim a couple times, but he also chucked up some very dumb shots. The difference is that he made some of his chucks.
I absolutely hate his step back 3 point jumper.
 
Same old same old. 1 out of 4 threes or 25%. ZERO assists. So this is improvement? And the clown defense. This experiment ended years ago. The Jazz just don't know it for some reason. They have a player in Burks so they will probably trade him.

Is there any version of his 3 point shot that is likeable?

one other player has the same exact stats from 3 this year..

he used to play for the jazz..

drafted out of high school like chucker..

career wise deshawn's shooting a higher percentage from distance than chucker
 
And despite his recent "surge," his FG% AND 3-PT FG% are still down from last season and the FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW that both have declined vs. previous year. That is an incredible feat. Yes, let's definitely re-sign him to a 5 yr/MLE-max deal. In 5 years, he'll be shooting 30% from the field and 20% from behind the arc. But we'll still be talking about his athleticism!
 
CJ did great today. Oh well he missed all his 3 pointers. He still brought a lot to the table and helped keep a 10 point deficit from turning into a 20 point one in the 2nd quarter. He also played really good defense on the last possession (yeah the guy got injured, but CJ was stopping his drive before that happened, and probably caused it to happen).
 
I wish I had something interesting to say about Miles, but I just want to contribute and bring this thread to page 70.
 
CJ has been chucking less and driving more, a lot more, and I think that's a good sign, and he has shown he can finish. He is still only 24, so we've been patiently waiting all these years and now the guy is coming into his own and we trade him -- dumb, dumb, and dumber.
 
Forget the 2 dumb 3's Miles' took in the last few minutes.

You can make an argument that Nicholas Batum's first 3 was Jeremy Evans fault because he didn't rotate; but the other 2 were clearly Miles' fault.

And when Miles got around to defending him the first thing Batum did was take him to the basket.

He's emerged as the weakest link on a team that plays decent defense. I'm pretty sure the first line of every Jazz scouting report in big bold captial letters is to take it to CJ Miles when he's on defense - especially when he's guarding SF's.

He needs to focus more defensively. However his drives took a lot of pressure off Millsap. Overall it was a positive game for CJ. But yes he had some defensive lapses.

Yet on the biggest possession of that game he played great defense on Batum and forced the TO. Yes Batum tripped over his own feet. But he was being guarded very well by CJ at the time.
 
I thought it was a curious play call by Portland. You have a spot up shooter that's on fire from downtown thanks to some non-existent D, he is out of his element by driving to the hoop and therefore he trips on his own damn feet and we call it good defense. ahaha. But thanks Blazers!
