I never thought I'd say this, but The Thriller is the only one in this thread making any sense.
Couldn't put it better myself:
Steve Luhm @sluhm
Griffin might have flopped, but Jefferson's incredibly soft foul right there means Jazz don't deserve to win.
Somehow Kanter and Favors only combined for 5 rebounds in 30 minutes.
Don't kill Jefferson on that play - kill The Jazz's pathetic full court press defense.
Jefferson was stuck in no-mans defending the basket and two players at the same time. If he over-committed to Griffin there was another Clipper player (I think Jordan) at the rim ready for an easy basket. By the time he got to Griffin he had a full head of steam - no player in the league can stop that. It was a **** situation to be in and I blame the other 4 defenders on the court way more than I blame Jefferson.
Thanks, I missed that game, it makes sense.Minnesota. Baseline jumper from 16'
Last nights was his farthest jumper however. Also I thought he had 2 more not just one more, not that it matters much or that he's taken all that many. Thanks, I missed that game, it makes sense.
I disagree somewhat. Jefferson should know who's on the court. Griffin is a 50% ft shooter. Foul him early and hard so he doesn't get an and 1. It's bball 101. You can't afford to be stupid and that's what happend. Jefferson doesn't get all the blame but that was the biggest bone head play of the game. My 6th grade girls team knows to foul in that situation. You do not give up a layup, and then give them an and 1.
OK, once again, Jefferson had another Clipper behind him to worry about. If he would have stepped up to try to foul Griffin then he would have left the basket wide open for that player to receive a pass from Griffin and an easy basket. How in the world do you expect Jefferson to defend two guys and the rim??
Did Jefferson play it perfectly? Obviously not - but he should never should have been in that postion to begin with.
Yeah, I remember when I saw it I was thinking "Oh ****, Blake is going to lob it to Griffin". Jefferson's trouble with lateral motion screwed him though and he wasn't able to get over fast enough then just fouled him weak. I would almost rather see him get a flagrant one then give an And 1 though.
I don't get all the Clippers are contenders talk. They can score the ball, but did anyone notice their defense? It was non existant in the first half. This team won't make it past the second round. They needed monster games from Blake and Paul to beat a fringe playoff team. Don't get me wrong, I think they're good, especially with Butler in the lineup. But that defense isn't contender quality.
Thanks, I missed that game, it makes sense.
They got the major pieces that they need. The problem is that they have none of the guys that fill all the holes. Give them another year and all those guys will gravitate to them because of the big market and superstars (CP3 and Griffin) on the team.
Personally I think the Heat picking up Battier was huge.
Speaking of positive things I was also impressed with Hayward's D, in the 2nd half he played Mo and CP better then any other Jazz player.Totally agree that they have the major pieces in place. Give Jordan & Griffin another year to mature and then I think they could be considered contenders. But I still think they can get the WCF this year.
I'll say again how impressed I was with the Jazz's performance last night. The Clips were going to give us their best game considering we humiliated last time, and everytime they punched us, we punched them right back (2nd half of last year we would have just sat back and taken the beating). Really proud of how we played.
