LA Clippers Lob City vs. Utah Jazz Swat Lake City, Wed. 8:30 MT ESPN

I found their celebration to be ridiculous.

Really! I felt it was complimentary! And i remember Jazz players doing similar little celebrations (yes, during the season) many, many times. It highlights how badly they wanted this game, and without wanting it that bad i don't think they would of won.

Couldn't put it better myself:

Steve Luhm @sluhm
Griffin might have flopped, but Jefferson's incredibly soft foul right there means Jazz don't deserve to win.

Don't kill Jefferson on that play - kill The Jazz's pathetic full court press defense.

Jefferson was stuck in no-mans defending the basket and two players at the same time. If he over-committed to Griffin there was another Clipper player (I think Jordan) at the rim ready for an easy basket. By the time he got to Griffin he had a full head of steam - no player in the league can stop that. It was a **** situation to be in and I blame the other 4 defenders on the court way more than I blame Jefferson.

We destroyed them a short while ago, and blew a chance to build on that... plus there is the historical record...so this was an important win for the Clippers. Who cares if they celebrate? You guys get all upset over the silliest things.

It may be weird to say, but last night was the first night that actually made me believe this team should be a playoff team. I say should because one or two injuries could really derail us. However, I thought we looked like a competent playoff team for the most part.

Sidenote: Everyone talks about how Favors needs to develop a couple low post moves, and I don't really think he does. I see him more in the mold of Kemp/Amar'e. Neither of those guys had/have low post games, rather they were/are more face up guys that can hit the 15 footer or beat you with quickness to the hoop.

I disagree somewhat. Jefferson should know who's on the court. Griffin is a 50% ft shooter. Foul him early and hard so he doesn't get an and 1. It's bball 101. You can't afford to be stupid and that's what happend. Jefferson doesn't get all the blame but that was the biggest bone head play of the game. My 6th grade girls team knows to foul in that situation. You do not give up a layup, and then give them an and 1.

Most has already been said, such as the obvious horrid FT shooting (Favors best FT shooter past two games) rebounding wasn't up to the usual Jazz standard and Millsap was very disapointing. If one of those are fixed the Jazz win and CP3's stellar game doesn't matter the Griffin flop doesn't matter or one that hadn't been mentioned was Griffin's goal tend where he grabbed the rim when he blocked Harris's shot or the goal tend they called on Hayward that was a clean block (4pt swing right there) again wouldn't have mattered had the Jazz did one of those things (FT, rebound or Millsap).

OK, once again, Jefferson had another Clipper behind him to worry about. If he would have stepped up to try to foul Griffin then he would have left the basket wide open for that player to receive a pass from Griffin and an easy basket. How in the world do you expect Jefferson to defend two guys and the rim??

Did Jefferson play it perfectly? Obviously not - but he should never have been in that postion to begin with.

Yeah, I remember when I saw it I was thinking "Oh ****, Blake is going to lob it to Griffin". Jefferson's trouble with lateral motion screwed him though and he wasn't able to get over fast enough then just fouled him weak. I would almost rather see him get a flagrant one then give an And 1 though.

This is my problem. It is crap that Big Al was in that position. But he was and either foul him hard or don't foul him at all. He was in a bad spot but then he did the worst thing he could. Give a soft foul.

I don't get all the Clippers are contenders talk. They can score the ball, but did anyone notice their defense? It was non existant in the first half. This team won't make it past the second round. They needed monster games from Blake and Paul to beat a fringe playoff team. Don't get me wrong, I think they're good, especially with Butler in the lineup. But that defense isn't contender quality.

They got the major pieces that they need. The problem is that they have none of the guys that fill all the holes. Give them another year and all those guys will gravitate to them because of the big market and superstars (CP3 and Griffin) on the team.

Personally I think the Heat picking up Battier was huge.

Thanks, I missed that game, it makes sense.

Hey AKMVP, are you watching CSKA-GS game. Its outcome is given even before the match starts. CSKA would be a f* good playoff team in the NBA, what do you think?

Btw, are you a CSKA fan?

Totally agree that they have the major pieces in place. Give Jordan & Griffin another year to mature and then I think they could be considered contenders. But I still think they can get the WCF this year.

I'll say again how impressed I was with the Jazz's performance last night. The Clips were going to give us their best game considering we humiliated last time, and everytime they punched us, we punched them right back (2nd half of last year we would have just sat back and taken the beating). Really proud of how we played.

Speaking of positive things I was also impressed with Hayward's D, in the 2nd half he played Mo and CP better then any other Jazz player.
