Here's a bit more on Joan Beringer. He's just 18 and allegedly he's has only been playing basketball for a few years. He's been mostly a rim-runner and rim-protector thusfar, but he's got some tools to work with. He's a very fluid run-and-jump athlete with good timing and efficient footwork on the defensive end. He's able to track guards and wings from about 18 feet in and make adjustments if he gets a step behind. He finishes above the rim effortlessly and has a pretty big catch radius. He's showing a bit of touch on a short hook or push shot. He's starting to add some timing, subtle fakes and finishes around defenders. Just in terms of physical profile, I actually like him at least as much as I like Asa Newell. Will be interesting to see how both of them measure out at the Combine.
He'd be a nice upside play in the middle of the 1st round. He could be amazing if he can add a handle, lower his center of gravity, and take a few dribbles to set himself up.

crazy that highlights of a 38 point performance could look so unimpressive. he just looked so slow, even indecisive with the ball especially in the beginning of the game. probably unfair criticisms, but he made kyle anderson look fast by comparison - even just running around trying to get open and of course with the ball too. i still don't really have an opinion on mcneeley for good or bad yet.
just me but KJ should be higher than edge. Egor is at the bottom of the lottery and johnson should be way higher.
So when VJ Edgecombe measures out around 6'3"/185 lbs, basically like a Jordan Clarkson or Monta Ellis, are people going to want to draft him to play ahead of Keyonte and Collin Sexton in our rotation?
I get that VJ has defensive playmaking, but those other guys both already give us 20 pts and 5 asts.
Is this a trick question?
Ummm... VJ has a legit star ceiling. In no way, shape or form should Keyonte or Sexton be in the equation when we decide how we'll use Edgecombe. Both of those guys are 7th or 8th guys on a contender.
I actually like VJ. I like his defense the most. If he had those measurables I would think twice. Best case might be a trade down and pick up some more draft assets. So when VJ Edgecombe measures out around 6'3"/185 lbs, basically like a Jordan Clarkson or Monta Ellis, are people going to want to draft him to play ahead of Keyonte and Collin Sexton in our rotation? Now If he comes in and measures 6-5 as he is listed i might have him 3rd (might) on my list. I just hate not picking bpa. Jazz could always move Sexton or George.
Which is ok with the jazz because the they already have a 6'5" pg.Unless VJ has an amazing pre-draft process, I don't think teams will take him in the top 3. They'll take Coop, Dylan and Ace ahead of him. I think VJ will primarily be seen as an off-ball 2-guard. He's not advanced enough yet to play on the ball full time. If you watch Baylor games, they're initiating through Robert Wright and letting him create off the dribble, play after play. If VJ had a more advanced handle, burst and change of direction, he could beat defenders consistently. But until that happens, he still mostly relies on other guys to set him up.
I also do think he's going to measure out on the smaller side. I'd be very curious to know where the Jazz have VJ vis a vis Kasparas.

My mistake.Who's our 6'5" PG? Collier measured 6'2.5" at the Combine. Keyonte is probably in the 6'3" range w/o shoes, or 6'4" range with shoes.
Recently saw a headline from an article or video a couple months ago asking whether Traore was intentionally tanking his draft stock to end up with the Spurs.
I haven't noticed anything like that here, so am I right to believe that was just clickbait?
He's gonna be a tank that can fly tho.
