Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Yates is probably the most under the radar major conference Freshman because he redshirted, but he's a month younger than Derik Queen. Has been dominating conference play.

Yep, at this point I'm hoping he stays kind of mid enough to drop to the Jazz's Timberpup's pick, but the fact is, BYU's offense just scored in the 90s three straight games, two on the road, two top 25 teams and the hub making it work is Demin. He's going to get the Freshman record for assists (for BYU) passing Ainge. He'll probably still go top 10 and people will wait on the shot to progress.
Circling back to this post.

Kind of points to just how bad Demin is at individual offense that he's on such a good offensive team and cant get any buckets.
He's fine going to the basket. If he was a zero in his personal offense, then it'd be one thing, right now it's generally his outside shot in an offense that features the three. Regardless, he's piling up assists and making it work for the team despite his 3 being MIA. Once he gets it going, he's going to be a real problem. Again, I personally wouldn't take him top 7/8 but I'd be shocked if he fell out of the lottery.

IMO, Egor has fallen off to the point where I think he has no business being a lottery pick.

I think another year playing alongside AJ with a sizeable NIL deal is the ticket for him.

Like I said, would be shocked if he fell out of the lottery, but this would be my favorite real life scenario as a BYU fan.

One thing I will never understand about basketball players like Richie Saunders is how you can have an 18'' vertical on your jump shot. Like what in the actual ****. What does that even feel like?

Ya he gets up on his jumper. Combined with the quick release and it's nearly impossible to defend.
I often see defenders guard him perfectly and it just doesn't even matter

If there's an underrated player in this draft with some star potential, it's probably Noah Essengue. I've become cynical towards overly skinny guys, but I'd believe in Essengue gaining 20 lbs and improving to become a significant scorer sooner than I'd believe in Asa Newell developing true wing skills and playing more than a Nic Claxton-type role. Essengue will be 18 on draft day. If he's still available with the Twolves pick, I think you pretty much have to take him.

More highlights on Essengue. TBH, I don't even want to like him as a prospect, but the last 18 y.o. European prospect with his physical profile (6'9" / 195 lbs) and well-rounded skillset was Giannis. Giannis was longer, twitchier, shiftier off the dribble (as he was someone who could play on the ball full-time), and a bit more aggressive overall. It's also hard to project that a guy like Essengue would grow to be ~7 ft., 240 lbs. (Giannis had huge hands), but he pops in this draft as someone who offers a very high ceiling. Drafting Essengue would be a big swing to take if he's available with the Twolves pick.

I'll write out a few points here:
** Runs the floor like a gazelle. Flies past defenders with huge strides to finish on top of the rim. Can catch a pass at mid-court and finish with one dribble.
** Not super twitchy, but athletic enough to really use his length driving to the rim. Likes to get downhill. Cuts well off the ball.
** Has some ability to finish with either hand.
** Shows good balance and adequate touch on his jumpers. Shows signs of being a serious shooter.
** Able to catch-and-shoot over wing-sized defenders closing out.
** Shows the ability to handle the ball with either hand, and shows good timing on his passes. Able to rebound and push.
** Has adequate defensive instincts and plays defense with good energy. Willing to use his length to challenge passing lanes and compete for 50-50 balls.

The main downside is his skinny frame. So it may be difficult for him to put on good weight.
