I would say it depends on the number and what the rest the team. Say he extends with a declining contract 26.5 to 24ish and so on for four years. That is a normal price for a starter. I don’t know what his market will be but that should work for us. Now if we draft Flagg then you trade either Collins or Lauri.Markkanen has his contract, JC his. Kessler hasn't had to sit out that many games and is in year 3. Sexton has only sat a few games (his ankle injury looked gnarly and he could've been out longer).
Collins I don't get. Why is he going along with this? Sure, he can take his option, but it's just another year of the same. Has Ainge promised him an extension? If he has, is that smart, for anyone? Someone in their 30s that's probably then your 4th option and taking 20 % of the cap.
I love how people act like it's somehow simple to trade Lauri at this point. Now if we draft Flagg then you trade either Collins or Lauri.
As @Tremendous Upside stated about Markkanen, it doesn't get any easier with Collins either. He's been on the block all the time, with no buyers. Now, give him an extension that runs into year 32/33 and he's owed $100M and you're getting back even worse contracts if anything.I would say it depends on the number and what the rest the team. Elite tank move.Even Tshiebwe is out. Flip will have to grab about ~30 boards.
