Following Potential 2025 Draftees

When I was watching UCONN/FLA I didn't think McNeeley was looking very good, but he ends up with a great stat line for a Freshman in the tourney 22pts, 3ast, 2stls. Any other thoughts on him? I'm having a hard time placing him.

Seems like a well rounded, jack of all trades kind of player....but maybe in a bad way. Everything seems a little theoretical with him. His 3 point shooting percentage is poor, but he does have good volume and high FT% so I believe he can shoot or will be able to. I think he looks like a good athlete, but he's really awful at the rim and also has extremely low stocks numbers...that worries me. Defensively I hear a lot of great things and his numbers are a mixed bag. Stocks/DBPM he looks terrible, but his +/- stuff is actually quite good on that end so I'm willing to trust the eye test. It's a really mixed bag for him and I don't he really stands out in any way. Having said that, I do like that he finds the efficient areas to score even if he's not super efficient himself. His rim rate, 3 point rate, and free throw rate are all good. I also think he's a great competitor and does hustle which is reflected in his strong rebounding numbers.

I think he could end up like a poor man's Deandre Hunter or Keegan Murray, but a poor man's version of those guys might just be a very nice Euroleague player.

No idea where I land on Derik Queen yet.

His footwork, hands, and finishing ability (both hands) are remarkable. But he's old, the conditioning is a question mark (though he does play 30mpg and never really looks "tired" - that could be a lazy critique of just looking at his body) and he will have to learn to stretch the floor.

For me, it comes down to making sure you're comfortable he's wired right mentally, as he's going to really have to hammer away at his body, shooting, and defense. This is any rookie, really, but these 3 will be particularly important for him.

Anywhere after the mid-first I'd feel pretty good about him as a high upside pick. I think a more skilled version of Sengun is probably a pretty good "best case scenario" comp. Worst-case is he goes the way of Renardo Sidney (IYKYK)

I like Queen. The defense from a big is really bad though. He seems to be putting in good work on his body and I think he will be fine with regard to that. I just see a zach randolph type but maybe a better passer? Just don't know if that type of dude works in this NBA... maybe it is works really well and is a nice zag. He will go between 6-14 though is my guess and unless we trade up with the Minny pick he might not be a possibility.

I am surprised you aren't hearing more about Walter Clayton Jr. I know he is 22 but just turned 22. He is not too old for a senior. He plays so effortlessly. 45/39/86 splits are pretty darn good.

He is listed at 6'3" which is good size for a PG. Doesn't seems like a bad defender. Has good stocks at 2. Is a decent rebounder at 4 a game and over 4 assists a game.

Haven’t watched much college hoops and have only seen queen highlights but I’m intrigued. Incredible footwork. Stats suggest to me he’s more of a sengun than jokic (1.9 ast) but he’s going to be a problem in the league imo.

Teams will need to space around him and let him go to work from the high-post in. He’s probably good enough to beat a lot of defenders one-on-one, and he passes well enough to make plays from it when he’s doubled.

He’s able to do a lot right now as a guy who is somewhat out of shape. So if he improves his body and explosiveness there’s room to raise his ceiling.

Queen is big enough and skilled enough that i think there is absolutely a place for him in the league. how important that place is, i don't know. but i don't see how he isn't an nba player - at least end of rotation (not end of bench, but end of rotation - at worst) guy.

I think he's definitely an NBA player. From what I hear there shouldn't be any major concerns about his shooting as he has a long history of shooting well. I expect he'll be able to shoot at an NBA level at some point in his career, I think he does everything else well enough to stick in the league.

I think he's a pretty high floor/low ceiling player for me. I would guess he's a rotation player at worst/Starting level player at best.

I think Queen is going to be a lot like Filipowski defensively. Probably better off being a 4 defensively than a 5.

Those are pretty good numbers. I haven't looked at him too deeply as a prospect. When I've watched him, the thing that has stuck out is he is a 3 level scorer.

I just worry that he's not high enough level at enough things. He's not bad at anything, but I still think he needs to level up in at least a few areas. I don't love him in the lottery, but for MIN pick I think he would be a nice value.

This is why I think CMB is just the superior prospect. Maybe Queen is more special on offense and he's a real difference maker that CMB cannot be, but CMB is actually a great defensive prospect at the 4 IMO. It's hard for me to put Queen so far offensively that I would prefer him to CMB.
