Following Potential 2025 Draftees

If I'm following these combine measurements correctly, Tre and VJ have very similar athletic testing numbers? I would have never guessed that from the film. I never would have called Tre a bad athlete, but not in the same tier as VJ, hmmm.

You could take this a couple different ways, but for me, this is an example of why I don't really care about the testing numbers.

Examples of this happening don't really exist. There are some players who have done more of this in the pros, but it's usually because they had a role that was more limited in college like a Booker situation. There are some Tre-Book similarities which I think make sense, but I think Book's development had more to do with him being limited at Kentucky.

To be fair, if you're looking for a star at #5 it requires something extraordinary to happen....so no bet is good. Right now I'd probably bet on Kas or Kon's potential to scale up instead. Fears probably has the clearest path to get there, but for some reason I'm just less convinced by him.

NBA space and pace are completely different from the NCAA. Rim finishing in college is worth looking at. Getting to the rim and FT rate are less defined at the college level. You have to look at the context of Tre being Texas’ primary scorer facing focused defensive coverages starting 25 feet out on the floor.

I had a longer post about showing athleticism in game is more important the combine measurements, but decided to stick with, hmmm....

I think I need to go back to the film and watch for it a little more. I do remember a couple of impressive plays from Tre dunking.

Sounds great, where are the examples of this happening? Almost every player has a lower or similar FTr and rim rate in the pros. When it does happen it's typically the lower usage guys who were limited by their role, not the guy who had the keys to whatever he wanted.

If I had to rank the indicators, I'd go:

1) Statistical indicators (doing the things that size/athleticism are supposed to do)
2) Film and how they "look"

3) Testing numbers

Tre tanked his standing reach though. Its still nice but its got some "Connaughton" inflation.

Cedric Coward is going to go top ten. We should make a promise at 21 and see if we can shut him down.
