What's new

Please...is there another radio station other than 1320?????

If the Jazz trade Favors, Kanter, or Burks for veteran help I am done with this team.
Hey, I hear Boozer is on the trading block. How about Harris and Favors for Carlos?

Just kidding. I agree with you. Outside of getting Dwight Howard (and him agreeing to an extension), Favors and Kanter have to be untouchable. Burks I'd be willing to deal if an all-star caliber wing came our way. But it would have to be a younger player, not a veteran in decline.

I don't believe this for a second, but even if our FO did decide to give up on Favors and trade him, they damn well better wait for the offseason. If Utah makes any deal that sacrifices the future in order to become a 1st round road apple, I will burn down the building.

Not only that, I will become a rabid Miller hater, Greg AND Gail. I say this, because I guarantee KOC wouldn't be dumb enough to pull such ****.

I heard them talking a little about it on my drive home and while I agree Ben or whoever originally brought it up (it wasn't Locke) was a really stupid idea but it was just making a topic to talk about and get the fans riled up to react (seemed to work in this thread).
At worst it was his opinion nowhere based on fact or inside info, just speculation for the sake of trying to make good radio/fan reaction.

No. Their point is that the Jazz have stated they are not rebuilding and that is still their stance. They said the Jazz are more likely to trade a young player for a vet than get rid of a vet to make time for youth.

If they continue as they are now, the Jazz will have two more lottery picks to make this June. Maybe they feel like those picks will be better than the four lottery picks we're playing now (Favors, Hayward, Kanter, and Burks). Face it: none of the young guys are playing particularly well this season.

Locke did his first podcast with KOC today. He asked him of you make moves for the short term or if you make them for the long term.

He said always long term.

I don't think the 1320 goons know what they are saying. Tony Parks is a moron and Ferg draws odd conclusions at times. He likes to argue and almost be mini pk

Fixed.

I don't think any of you have to worry. The jazz are not going to trade young players for vets.

Keep in mind that the goal of radio hosts is to get viewership. So they will say anything to rankle the fans into a frenzy, so they call a lot.
Locke loves to tell callers off.

Believe it or not, I once had most of the 1280 staff pissed at me, and calling me out on the air, because I wrote a bunch of stuff on their blog blasting the refs for the 08 series against the Lakers. I stood by my remarks, and a bunch of people called me to tell me that at least 3 hosts were calling me a bunch of crap on the air for what I said.

Is that hard to believe or what!

I haven't listened to 1280 or KFAN for ages, and I am better off. Most of what they say is made up. Rarely did I ever get much good insight from listening to them. With the internet these days, news travels fast and easy, so talk radio does not have a leg up.

As for locke, he's ok sometimes, but in small doses. Sometimes his stats are interesting, but mostly worthless, and if any fan calls in with stats, he won't listen to them.
But I can't stand his game announcing. He's always constantly at least 10 seconds behind the action, and he is always reading advertisements.
He's going on and on about Group Sattelite and I hear the crowd roar and then groan and then Locke says "Here's Millsap, quick pass to Hayward, who fumbles the ball, picked up by Al, passes outside to Raja for a 3 point shot, and he makes it, but the shot clock went off first, so they wave it off"
As if he was telling it live.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT

I am all for making the playoffs in any year. Don't want to watch a team that is not trying to win. That said, i also would come unhinged if the FO traded any of our young's for a vet. Said this before but young players are not mushrooms
who grow well in the dark. They have to be under the heat lamp sooner than later. Out of crisis and dealing with pressure and sometimes even failure comes winning. Not by watching crisis and failure.

I like that Craig is mad that Locke has to get advertisements on air, lol. How is that his fault?

I've been listening to 1320 quite a bit lately and what I've heard is them saying if the Jazz want a player of Rondo's caliber, they have to give up Kanter or Favors in return, but I haven't heard anyone say they would so it.

Whoever's fault it is, it is stupid. I want to know what is happening while the game is actually going on, but I gotta hear locke do some spill and then try to play catch up.
Hot Rod never let the action happen without telling us all about it.

It was just that Hot Rod sometimes mixed up the teams and couldn't pronounce a lot of the names. The influx of international players doomed the career of Hot Rod.

Ok, just for fun, and I haven't ran the numbers at all, but how does Favors for Rondo sound?

Caused a bit of a pause didn't it? Because face it, no matter how much we like our young players, they are just as much on the block as anyone else on the team. Sure, we all want our young players to succeed, but if you look at the other teams in the NBA, I'm pretty sure you won't find one of them that acquired more than a third of their players from the draft (yes, Favors was a trade, but we got him his rookie year, so basically, he's our young talent).

So end analysis, sure, trade Favors (or any young player) for a vet, that's fine as long as it makes the team better in the long run. Right now though, I don't think there are many trades that would make sense for both teams involving Favors at this point.

If Rondo's caliber requires Kanter or Favors, then politely decline. Or laugh at Ainge, call him a zoob, and hang up. Either way, I don't care. Rondo is vastly over-rated. He was surrounded by THREE Hall of Famers. He had ZERO pressure to do anything. He had the easiest job in the history of the NBA, and for some reason people think he is great.

I think that's a stupid thing to say. He's a legit all star who just so happened go land on a good situation. If simply being surrounded by talent made the jib easy guys like Derek Fisher, Mario Chalmers, Carlos Arroyo and Norris Cole would be all-stars as well. Lots if guys are surrounded by talent, usually that dips into their stats, buy Rondo's skill allows him to be a triple double machine along side them.
