Following potential 2012 draftees

I'd say the fans and every GM would like to know the answer to that question. His numbers are undeniably impressive, to say the least .. but Weber State has a strength of schedule of 287. That is so bad that it is a legitimate cause for concern. I think he'll be very good, but wouldn't take him in the lottery.

As much as I love Lillard, I've seen some of the teams he plays against....absolutely terrible. Just terrible. It is definitely a very legitimate concern, he has all of the abilities IMO, I would love to see him at Portsmith or something though.

From the game I watched of Iona, they would have no chance against a top tourney team.

I think its more about watching guys like Machado and Lillard be the defensive focus of an elite team and see how they handle that, more than it is about their teams having a chance or not. If either can meet or exceed their averages against top competition in that environment I think it will help us get a much better idea of how they might translate to the next level.

Just an FYI on Austin Rivers in his last 8 games.

Not too shabby. I know everybody would like his assist numbers to be higher, but the system they're running right now just isn't conducive to a lot of assists.

EDIT: Wanted to add these stats I found on Harrison Barnes. I think most of you know by now that I'm not the biggest fan of his due to his lack of ability to create offense...I still think he's a good shooter though provided somebody can get him the ball.

On the surface barnes is a 18-point a game scorer on 46% FG shooting and 40% from three.

Below the surface barnes is a 17-point a game scorer on 40% FG shooting and 37% from three against Top 50 RPI teams.

Further below the surface barnes is a 16-point a game scorer on 38% FG shooting and 34% from three against Top 25 teams.

Well, I guess as a Weber alum, I need to go ahead and defend my boy.

To be fair, his line against the 5 top 100 RPI teams Weber has faced hasn't been all that great.

@Cal

14/3/3 4/17 from the field 3/10 from 3. 3/4 at the line. Cal has the Gutierrez kid who's probably the best wing defender in college ball.

@BYU

15/2/10 (reb) 5/12 1/4 from 3 4/4 at the line. Weber never plays well in Provo. Never won there. Played only 31 minutes. Rebounds were high since it was the first game without Weber's top rebounder (Bullinger), so he picked up the slack, there. Decent line overall, but definitely below average

vsUM

21/4/5 4/15 2/7 from 3 11/12 from the line. Shot horribly. Still got 21 points on 15 shots. So he's still efficient.

vs. UtA

17/7/7 5/12 2/7 4/5 Not great percentages, but overall great line. Still 17 on 12 shot attempts. Was in foul trouble because of charges. Wouldn't let him get near the paint, hence the 7 assists.

@SMC

36/3/2 11/18 2/5 12/15 I save the best for last. 36 points on 18 shots is ridiculous.

So against the better competition, the percentages are down, but the efficiency remains. Lillard won't be targeted in the NBA like he is against Weber, and he should do well in the pick and roll (teams now for the most part double him, and our bigs aren't the most agile in the PnR).

Guess I could add up all the stats.

20.6 pt 5.4 reb 3.8 ast 39.2 FG% 30.0%3 3pt% 7.8/9.0 FTA/g 86.7 FT%

His year averages are pretty much the same except in percentages, and thus points. Rebounds are the same, assists the same, free throw attemps per game is slightly higher in the top 100 RPI games.

Let's play a game top draft prospects who do you think their game is more like?

Anthony Davis - Marcus camby
Andre Drummond - Kwame brown
Harrison Barnes - glen rice
MKG - Gerald Wallace
Thomas Robinson - Paul millsap
Bradley beal - Eric Gordon
Jared Sullinger - Dejuan Blair
Jeremy lamb - Richard Hamilton
Cody zeller - Tyler hansbrough ?
Perry jones - Chris bosh
Tyler zeller - luc longley
Meyers Leonard - robin Lopez
Damian lillard - Mo Williams
Quincy miller - Darius miles
John Henson - pj brown
Austin rivers - Ben Gordon

I am definitely intrigued by Lillard. I was admittedly a bit down on Paul George and Gordon Hayward (pre-draft) because they just didn't play many games against good competition. There is no flawless system, obviously, or all GM's would get it right everytime. I was also not real high (though not down on, at all) on Greg Monroe because I watched him play lazy defense and lack desire to play a whole game (just as the same worries me with Drummond, QMiller, and PJones).

I'm wrong about players all the time, that's makes all this so much fun.

Good list and this is a tough thing to do, imo.

I think Drummond will find his much needed motivation and become a top 3 or 4 center in the NBA within a few years.
Robinson is much meaner and athletic than Sap.
Only bad comparison is Cody Zeller vs. psycho-T. Cody will be better and is bigger.
Not crazy about the PJones vs. Bosh comparison. PJones has better handles and more range.

I have more thoughts but these are the main ones.

After watching a few highlight videos still don't k ow a lot about him. He looks better then his brother in that he seems quicker.

That can be attributed to being 30-40 pounds lighter than his brother. Cody could make it as a PF in the NBA, but if someone drafts him to play center it would be a disaster.

Drummond = Greg Monroe with a higher ceiling
Lillard = maybe a slightly quicker Sam Cassell
Q. Miller = young Danny Manning
T. Robinson = a clued in Josh Smith.

Speaking of Danny Manning, I would be all in on trying to get him to be our big man coach. He's done wonders at Kansas.

I have thought the same thing many times. It seems like all of the big men that come from Kansas has great footwork. That would really help Kanter and Favors improve their overall game.
