I know this has been visited before, but lets do it again. Because the clock is ticking and a move has to be made.
First off. I love millsap as much as the next fan, but he might have to be the guy that goes. Because we have to move him or al, and he will be easier and bring more value potentially. One of those bigs are going to have to be moved sooner or later to make room for our young bigs. I think most of us agree on that. I dont think that we will lose anything because the combo of Favors/kanter/evans will make up any difference.
So here is the trade
We send paul to the lakers for the Dallas pick (top 20 protected, so we probably get it) and a future first rounder. Something like 2016 or something. Hopefully unprotected but probably not. And lakers use the TPE, and we take nothing back.
I think the Jazz have to consider something like this. I dont think we can play our hand too tuff here. I would hate to see paul walk without getting anything in a year and a half. As the time draws closer, i think our hand gets weaker. And teams wont be inclined to give up that much, because he then becomes a salary move.
I like the Dallas pick because it helps us move up potentially in this draft. And/or we find a gem in the late first round to aid the rebuild.
It makes sense for us and the Lakers. They could use Millsap. And he has had success against them, so i think they like him. And they must be looking to make one last push to please kobe. Kobe isnt getting any younger. Paul could play the sixth man role of the bench for them. And that Dallas pick cant mean that much to them.
I know some people might balk at helping the Lakers, but screw it. We arent ready to win right now anyways.
As an alternate trade we could send them Devin Harris for that pick, to help with their point guard woes. But that doesnt help our bigs situation.
What do you think?
