What's new

Rondo being shopped hard.

I'm dying to know, do you know him better than people that have coached, played, and otherwise worked with him for the last 5+ years AND most recently? If you do, how on earth would you?

For my part, I think he's a wildly overrated player that does a few things extremely well (passing, running, defending, rebounding). Even if he was Tim Duncan upstairs, his jump-shot is a HUGE concern, but he sounds every part a cancer to the people that know him best (in the ways that it matters).

As I have said in reference to acquiring Westbrook (a better player that is no longer even remotely available); 'Right now, the Jazz are a flower waiting to bloom, adding this guy would be like watering it with gasoline.'

Of course not. I have been to about 50 practices (all UK) and watched how he interacted with his teammates and coaches .. Hung out a lot .. Question I have is does anyone have direct quotes from players and/or coaching staff saying he has carcinogenic tendencies .. Or is it just a smoke/fire thing?

*eagerly awaits response*

I skimmed through some Celtics blogs and obviously they value Rondo much less than PKM and aybars. Many say best of realistic trades for Rondo are something like Hibbert+Collison, Big Al (they say Utah won't give up Harris+Al for Rondo :) ), some even consider taking trade exception for Rondo if Ainge is keen to ship him out at any cost. They are not very high on him saying they need a PG who can shoot, hit FTs and not turn the ball over too much. Most importantly, they mentioned Rondo isn't worth his contract without great players around him so he won't fit into rebuilding team which is main concern on this board as well.

Seriously? I hope Ainge is as low on him as those fans.

For those saying we need a PG who can shoot, I agree, and I think someone like Curry would probably be a better fit. But if Rondo could be had for a decent price, you take him. No questions asked. Then you worry about shooting later.

I don't know, but there is some real acrid smoke coming off of this situation. I can't seem to figure out why Boston would be so forward about trading their apparently best player who is also pretty young. On top of that, this isn't new, and in addition to that, he sure LOOKS like a problem out there. I don't see competitive fire, I see a guy difficult to work with.

It's also worth noting that unless he played in a New York Jets organization with New York Jets teammates, no one is going to say anything. That doesn't happen. Having more than conjecture in a situation like this isn't common.

Do you still talk to him>?

^^^ FWIW, he did complain a little. He said at first everybody put everything they had into winning a championship together, but ever since they won it, too many started doing more coasting. He said, "I wanna win ten .. in a row." Sadly, he's serious .. and I can see where it wears people out.

This right here. He is fiery, sure, but he is also an amazing talent. I would love to see his defense up front. Put kanter and favors as the anchors and we have a very good defensive team. We will have to workout shooting later. It's not like it gets worse with rondo anyway.

So what would he be like on a rebuilding team? Would he embrace the fact he is on a young talented roster that will get better yearly or is he to impatient?

I'm enjoying that half the people saying we can't have Rondo because he doesn't shoot want us to draft Kendall Marshall.

It would work, I believe, as long as two things happen;

1) You've got the talented youth working their asses off to become a serious contender. Anyone showing up late for practice or being lazy, not eating right, etc... will hate his guts.

2) He's the leader of the team. (I think that part is easy)

BY the way, don't bring up the Deron vs. Hayward stuff .. I believe Rondo understands mistakes .. just doesn't understand lack of effort.

I for one find this a good thing...nothing wrong with him pushing people to be better. Of course he has to know his limits, but IMO, that's a good thing.
