Following potential 2012 draftees

I just had to get my thoughts out on this. Coaching and system can make all the difference in a players career. We have seen it before with the Jazz. Players look great is Sloan's system and then they are snatched away by other teams and they seemingly disappear.

I have to wonder if Miller and PJ3 are playing in a system that is not using them to the best of their abilities. Rather than getting them involved, it sometimes seems easier to let Jackson just run around with the ball and hope that he can get to the hop with this quickness.

Just a thought, not saying that it is truth. I have not been able to watch all of the Baylor games that I would like to so feel free t correct me if I am wrong.

I wish more people understood how important this is ..

I have been unimpressed with how Scott Drew has used Miller, especially. I guarantee you that Miller would be thriving, in a much bigger way, in Calipari's system. There are dozens of examples .. another is CJ Leslie that plays for NC State. If he had chosen another school, he would be seen as a lottery player. As it is, he's viewed a 2nd rounder. No way he should ever be that low (he's quite similar to QMiller). This is one reason why scout after scout, year after year, say it's so much easier to scout UK players .. because Cal plays man-to-man, uptempo, and allows his guys the freedom to use their full skillset. Kids don't get yanked for missing a shot. Etc. He plays a more pro-style system.

On the other side, NC State, i.e., plays a sloooow it down, run the clock down, and try to just keep it close with a low scoring game .. and you have a chance to win. Unfortunately, too many teams have this philosophy and it makes games hard to watch and players harder to evaluate. The coaches say it's an emphasis on defense .. which is crap. All it is is a fear of getting blown out. UK pushes tempo AND holds its opponents to 38% FG shooting ..

Sorry for the tangent, but I'm very passionate about coaching/playing styles, systems, and kids getting relegated to a coaching mentality that can't adjust to the roster.

I am going to say that you have a great mind. Mostly just for the fact that you agree with me on this.

Must spread more rep first.

Lots of action today;

~ Teague, Lamb, MKG, TJones, Davis, DMiller vs. LSU (11MST, ESPNU)

~ Cincinnati vs. Fab Melo, Dion Waiters

~ Jackson, QMiller, PJones vs. Taylor, TRobinson (that should be a very good game)

~ Maryland vs. Marshall, Barnes, Henson, Zeller, McAdoo, Bullock

~ Kabongo vs. Mizzou

~ Virginia Tech vs. Rivers, Plumlees

~ Purdue vs. Sullinger

~ Cody Zeller vs. Wisconsin

~ Minnesota vs. Trey Burke

~ Alabama vs. Beal, Young

~ Moser vs. New Mexico

~ Georgia vs. JTaylor, Jenkins, Ezeli

May have missed some ...

Doesn't look like a 12-team tourney .. and we're playing LSU in New Orleans, lol

For argument sake, anyone think Draymond Green would get drafted if he was legit 6'9"? Kid is a hell of a passer, shoots the 3 and is "emotional leader" personified. Obvs at barely 6'6" its a moot point but just wanted opinions.

He has been a shocking disappointment lately to say the least. When he does score though, it's usually a seemingly effortless NBA caliber move...things that make you go hmmm.
As the king of hyperbole, I declare this hyperbolic even for my tastes.

Not exactly a potential draftee but Kevin Murphy of Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles is a fine basketball player with sound fundamentals.
https://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/42155/kevin-murphy

Last time I wathced was like a few days ago and their season ended, barring an invitation to NIT or NCAA Tourney.
He made me think of Rip Hamilton during the game.
Has a sweet stroke, buried some incredible shots.
This guy has "some" pro potential, be it in Europe or NBA.
BTW,
My first post in the "new" Jazzfanz.
I used to have the Go-khan nick with a fricking Ostertag avatar here on Jazzfanz (before the collapse)
I opted to return to my old nick Tark, I used on Jazzhoops.

Oh then I am sure you deserved the neg I just gave you.

Welcome back!

:)
Thanks for the warm welcome,
I see your neg rep Verlin and raise you another NBA-prospect (not really though),

Henry Sims of Georgetown Hoyas, who was brilliant in his last Big East match against Cincy.
https://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/41734/henry-sims

Oh he is 6'10", I always thought he was shorter than that.
Whatever, this guy will never be a scorer BUT has soft hands and is a passable rebounder.
Very probably will go undrafted, but he is one of the best, if not the best, passing big men in NCAA's.
definitely worthy of an invitation to preseason camp.

as you may see,
I am trying to write about players, who are not college hoops stars *****
but rather about under-the-radar but still-worthy-of-a-look type of players.

May I add that I am one of the first guys that labeled Millsap as "the best kept secret of college basketball" on this very forum (LATech offical athletics website used to call him that way LOL)

another guy, whose game I seriously like (?) is Glover of Iona Gaels.
https://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/36231/mike-glover

I think I caught Gaels' 2 matches on TV, and in one of them he was meh but he will always be a great rebounder, but not sure on his scoring prowess.
on collegiate level being a bully guarantees you 10 ppg.
but pro bball may be another story.
