Someone posted Corbin's statement after the laker game and it really bothered me. In essence his quote dealt with his development of the rookies and sophmores sometimes called the fantastic four, the four horsemen or as I call them the youngens. His quote was something to the affect that he has given the youngens playing time at the beginning of the year, when they weren't ready, so that they could develop and play at this high level now. My first thought was that he has to be dillusional, but then I started to think maybe he honestly believes that he has given the youngens a lot of playing time, perhaps sacrificing playoff position to do so. However, the facts don't support Corbin's position especially considering how well they have played when given a little court time.
I believe that Corbin has made huge mistakes in playing time distributions this year. Burks has several DNP's. Kanter averaging a paultry 14 minutes and Favors 17. I have seen games where the youngster were playing really well only to be taken out. I have also seen at least three games where the youngens brought the team back at the end of the third beginning of the fourth only to be taken out so the vets could lose the game. I personally think that Corbin is pissing the young guys off by not playing them more and is perhaps jeopardizing the future of the team. If the youngens get to upset they might not re-sign here.
I know I'm not the only one who believes this since I read this board all the time. Even people with basketball knowledge strongly believe the rookies need more time. For this I reference the Harpring quote from the Board member who went on the Phoenix trip. So either Corbin is dillusional or he was purposefully slapping fans in the face when he suggested he's been developing the youngen by giving them so much time earlier in the season. Honestly, I can't think of another explanation for Corbin's comments. I have never been a fire this guy or fire that guy, but I truly don't know what to think about Corbin's statement.
