Following potential 2012 draftees

OT: Curious to hear unbiased opinions as to whether this should have been called a technical (for hanging on the rim).

I don't know, but those eyebrows are nasty!

I think it has less to do with people think Hayward is outmatched more than their idea that Hayward is a 2-Guard and they don't want to ruin that notion by bringing in another 2 guard.

Yep, Hayward's a 2. Preferably.
And that's why we wanna draft a 3.
The problem is WHO.

I think it is hanging on the rim. It seems like a pretty easy call. There is no one underneath him and Davis does the extra kick up with his legs. Why do you want to know? It wouldn't have made a difference.

As far as Hayward goes, I think Jazz fans in general underrate Hayward's defensive ability. Usually he gives great effort and is very scrappy. He blocks shots too. There is no one in the league who is going to stop Durrant or Lebron one-on-one. I think of Hayward as a combo SG/SF/PG. He is a basketball player with guard skills. The biggest issue for Gordon is to just remain aggressive and to be more consistent offensively. I was ok with the pick but I absolutely love the way Hayward plays when he is aggressive.

Depending on when the call wasn't made, it could have. That is two shots for Indiana and ball back (I think). Have no idea when it happened, but Indiana could have been within a couple of points and that dunk could have caused a huge momentum shift.

I glad the ignored the hanging on the rim. It makes the dunks more exicting. Also long as a player isn't directly taunting another player-- I don' think it should ever be called.

I know its blasphemy to dissect MKG's game and people love his toughness energy etc so do i how can you not love how he competes..But i think some people have taken it a little too far with him..He still has very little offensive game outside of transition..i think hell be a great hustle/energy role player who can help a team but i dont see a star..

There is a practical reason not to hang on the rim and that is so you can get back on defense. Also a good way to shatter a backboard. Granted you have to be more like Shaq size to do that.

A thought on Small Forwards:

You're going to have to be able to hold your ground against anyone as a SF. We're entering an era that will probably demand it. You have to get either a real physical specimen and possibly a hell of a matchup as an offensive player (a player LIKE Durant), or a still rather impressive physical specimen that earns their place on the court mostly because of their defense (in the spectrum of Batum and Battier):

Any team hoping to win an NBA championship in the next five years is almost guaranteed to require beating Kevin Durant AND/or Lebron James. That's taking no other SFs into account. You have to be able to matchup if you're serious about a championship in that window.

Pardon me for being the skeptic (and I feel realist) for not feeling that Gordon Hayward is going to outplay OR outmuscle either of them.

This is why MKG and Mitchell are great fits to me. Mitchell moreso because his shooting numbers were very, very efficient. I'm starting to think trading our 1st for an unprotected 1st next year and a late 1st this year could be a good thing. We could get Mitchell late and then have two 1sts next year ina draft that's supposed to blow but I think it will end up better than people think. Just an idea.

Anyone have any gut feelings about who we're going to draft? Just wondering, cause even though I'm open to the idea of drafting Miller, I don't really see the Jazz actually going through with that. I'm feeling either Rivers or Marshall (assuming we don't trade up).

Depends where we're picking. Marshall, Beal, Lillard, and MKG are the four I hear most associated with the Jazz .. but almost exclusively from UK sources, so there could be some slant.

How would UK people have any info on what the Jazz may do in any season let alone one where we have no idea where we'll be picking if at all since there are 20 games left and a ton of scenarios. I call ********.

It's because every NBA team comes to the games and the Jazz have been represented at at least a half-dozen practices. Believe it or not, conversations take place .. and not always about UK players. I only mentioned the guys that I've heard mentioned most often .. not that they necessarily feel they'll get them.

Don't doubt PKM. He personally pays 1/10th of each player's salary...... er "scholarships".
