Black Kid Shot in Gated Neighboorhood

there is a video of the guy just posted here that shows he had not gotten his head beaten in.

I agree with most of what you said, but there is a lot that we do know also, even though we don't know everything.

I watched it, it didn't show ****. When was it? How long after the incident? Was he cleaned up by paramedics? Maybe nothing really happened. You for sure don't know what happened. I definitely don't either.

Were you aware that in the police report it states the following: "his back appeared to be wet and was covered in grass (and he) was also bleeding, from the nose and back of his head,"

Why couldn't he have shot Travyon in a non-fatal location? (I know, in the heat of the moment he probably wasn't thinking that rationally).

You should never try to shoot someone in a non-lethal location. If you have justification to shoot someone it's because they are threatening your life. If you do shoot them you should always do so in an attempt to stop the threat and to not accidentally hurt an innocent person. That means that you should always shoot center-mass (chest), period. Getting fancy is asking for trouble. More likely to miss and not stop the threat. More likely to hit an innocent person, either by missing or because the bullet has less mass to travel through and continues on to hit someone or something else. More ground for prosecutors to argue that your life was not in danger. Just a bad idea no matter what the circumstances.

This. I would also put 2 shots (in immediate succession) into center mass not 1.

Look at all the racist people in here.

This thread is bitchin like my turbo charged Camaro

24 pages too. World Of Warcraft that's a lot white dudes repeating their same point over and over to try and prove they are not racist because indeed they are.

So I saw on TV today there is another video from the police station that shows another angle. You can clearly see there is no injury. Scat's right wing website faked that picture showing a cut, just as I suspected. At least they admitted it (they said they "enhanced" it).

Oh, and the police video is 34 minutes after they arrived on the scene, which was only a few minutes after the shooting.

They also have another eyewitness who said he thinks the person on top did the shooting, and Zimmerman got right up after the shooting with no noticeable injuries.

The police report appears to be faked also. It lists the kid's name, address, birthdate, etc. But the kid was actually listed as a John Doe for a few days after the shooting.

And trout, there is no report from the medical examiners. He never went to an emergency room. Supposedly he was treated at the scene. But there is no report for it that has been released. And remember, 34 minutes after the police first arrived on scene Zimmerman was already at the police station and looking fine.

Zimmerman's dad is a retired judge. The speculation is that Zimmerman's dad is what kept him out of jail. The lead investigator said he wanted to arrest and charge him, but a state attorney (who was there) said not to. Apparently it's pretty rare for either a state attorney our the chief of police to personally show up during an interrogation/investigation, yet both of them did for this one.

Well, I guess it's settled then. Hang him.

Trout is being level-headed and nicely witty here.

There's still a lot we don't know. This case needs a trial, with a jury. All the questions need to be asked, and answered, in a court.

Pretty disappointing seeing supposedly responsible, "leaders of the community" who don't understand the principles of due process in law.

I think the evidence is going to come down on a reasonable scenario, not on the hate crime/race motive. Zimmerman is not a racist, just an idiot neighborhood watch kid with no good sense. Trayvon Martin is not an innocent fourteen year-old choir boy, just a hoody creeping up the trash alley in a gated community checking for unlocked doors or dumpster goodies. He wasn't on the way to the store for anything. He was looking like a baddy. Zimmerman should have called the cops and some neighbors, and ducked inside, out of the way. Treyvon should have gone to the lighted street.

I don't trust the cops, not for anything. . . . don't even trust our courts for due process. This should go to a jury trial for sure, and there are a lot more questions to ask, and a lot more answers needed. Any police department who knows a former judge's kid is on the ropes is going to bend over to give him some slack. Going to happen whether the kid is white or black.

Our media, and some of our politicians are idiots to be pushing this as a race case. If you're in a responsible position you act to calm the situation, not inflame it. And you use your influence to make sure the justice system keeps to the truth, in objective terms, as much as you possibly can.

Nothing perfect or ideal about our system, except it's better than riots and race wars.

When this first happened, a few people claimed there would have been an arrest if the shooter was black and the victim white (which I tend to agree with, except for the judge's kid thing, which wasn't known by the public at the time).

I also heard the 911 recording of Zimmerman saying effing coons.

Other than that, and those haven't been mentioned since early on, I haven't seen anyone say this was definitely race based or a hate crime or whatever.

I agree this needs to go to a jury trial. That's why so many people are outraged, because he was not arrested and still hasn't been charged with anything. So at this point, it is not going to a jury trial unless something changes.

I am not defending the shooter in anyway nor am I condeming him in this post. Just pointing out that you have to admit that the media did a fantastic spin job on this case. The pics they use was a brilliant move by itself.

How hard is it to spin when you have an unarmed kid who was doing nothing wrong, shot and killed by a man who had been following and chasing him? If anything, the right wing media is doing a fantastic spin job to cast a reasonable doubt.

Are you kidding me? Look at the pictures that were shown for about the first two weeks. Even on Fox News. They showed Zimmerman in a mug shot (several years old) and used a 4 year old pic for Trayvon. This was done to show one as menacing and one as more of a child than a 17 year old looks.

Again not defending or accusing anyone. Just pointing out the very effective spin job the media has done.

Would you rather they showed the recent pictures of Zimmerman? I don't know if you've seen them but he has a clean shaven head, and he's ripped. He looked fat in the old mugshot, which some people used as reasonable doubt (saying the kid who weighed 100 pounds less actually beat him within an inch of his life so he had to shoot him).

The facts here, eliminating all speculation and spin, are:
1: An unarmed kid was shot and killed.
2: The guy who shot and killed him outweighed him by 100 pounds.
3: The kid was on his way back from the store, and was only carrying skittles and an iced tea.
4: The shooter was told by a police dispatcher not to follow the kid.
5: The shooter followed him anyway, and even got out of his car and chased him at some point.
6: The shooter was taken to the police station in handcuffs. The lead investigator wanted to arrest him, but the state attorney personally drove down there (so did the chief) and over ruled him.
7: The shooter is the son of a retired judge.

These are simply facts. This is not spinning anything, it's just listing the facts as we know them. In my view, after accepting all of these facts, if your news source is saying he shouldn't have been arrested and charged with something, then they are the ones spinning the story.
