Following potential 2012 draftees

CODY ZELLER is back to school so, Lilard will earn more and now is projected 7 pick. means not for us.

so who will you draft? i think we have chance for 8th and 14 (?)pick

so I WILL TAKE Marshall and Lamb

I see little chance Lillard is gone by 7, but I'll play along;

Marshall and Rivers
Marshall and one of the Jones'

I was trying to be funny. It didn't work.

I got it, I chuckled. I just hate the name. Did I mention I hate the name?

This isn't meant to be taken too literally (I guess I need to apologize every time I do something like this..), but can you compare the skills of Austin Rivers and Klay Thompson? Gracias.

Rivers is VERY fast and can knife into the lane almost at will. Has a real knack for finishing at the rim and/or drawing the foul. Both have defensive weaknesses but Klay's is more athletically-induced and Rivers has been more of a desire issue. Rivers can really do just about anything and is not limited by anything other than what's between his ears. That's why, at one point last year, he was projected to be the #1 draft pick in this class.
Many will disgree but I also think Rivers is a better shooter than Klay .. although Klay has obviously been killing it.

thanks very much.

And, yes, 'shooter' is spelled s-h-o-o-t-e-r. Please forward this to the front office of the Utah Jazz. ;)

@PKM:
If we were to draft Marshall and Rivers (as you playfully suggested above), what would you do about our front court situation? In other words, do you agree that someone needs to be traded? Who? And, for what?

I think we would still be in need of a good shooting SF. I would think Al or Sap would be able to get us an upgrade at that spot .. no real thoughts on who, though. Actually, would really like Thaddeus Young, if at all possible.

Maybe I'm wrong, but you said shooting sf. I've never thought of Thaddeus Young as a shooter. Am I wrong? I would love to have him on the jazz though.

I agree .. I contradicted myself .. I just like Thaddeus. I think we need a PG of the future, a SG that can shoot, and a SF that can either DEFEND or shoot, preferrably both.

What about trading Al for young, Meeks, and Haws. Future first round pick? Would the 76ers do that?

I'm college bb guy more than an NBA guy. Most everyone on this board knows more than I do about salary situations, team needs, etc. I just know the individual players really well .. considering I start watching the top players in the country at around 16years old, watch how their games improve (or don't improve), how they transition from HS to college, and formulate my opinions on how they'll project to the NBA.

Thaddeus Young isn't a shooter, but in the 2 seasons he did attempt 3's (over 2 per game those 2 seasons, then 3 seasons of .3 attempts per game) he shots 34%. Not bad. He is super athletic and strong.

And in college he shot 42% from deep on 3 attempts per game. I think Philly and Collins has him playing more in the post/slashing this year.
