What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

I love Royce White and have since he was a Sr in HS .. but I think he'll have no more than brilliant flashes in the NBA. Draymond Green in the 2nd, sure .. but there are several I'd rather have. Buford .. NO thank you.

Yeah, his ceiling is high and at 8 or 9 I don't think his floor is all that different from the others around there. That's why I can't imagine passing on him if he's there. I'm just not sure about Marshall. I wonder if he's looking better merely because by comparison to the other PGs this year he's getting inflated value. That's why I was intrigued as to why PKM changed his mind on him and now thinks he's worth drafting at maybe 8. Is he special?

Did you watch what happened to UNC when he went down?

The value of a player is how rare he is. There's only one passer like Marshall in this draft. But a team could make an argument that taking Moultrie or Terrence Jones is about as good as taking Perry Jones.
A Marshall/T.Jones draft is better than a PJIII/Wroten draft.

Yes. The tarheels were crap without him and Marshall's draft stock climbed BECAUSE of his injury.
I'm aware of him possibly being really special, but it's so new for me. I'm having a hard time switching over.

Before the tourney we were debating if the pass first PG was a thing of the past and thinking we needed a fast guy who could hit the outside shot (Rivers or Lillard) but I dunno anymore. I really like a guy who can pass.

His defense doesn't worry me too much - not that it's good, just that it seems plenty of good PGs are terrible defensively. And Favors is waiting at the basket. But I hope Marshall's outside shot becomes consistent. He obviously been working on it, which speaks well of him. ...I'd rather grab him at 14. May not happen. Maybe all of Marshall, Lillard, AND Rivers will be gone.

Marshall/Terrence J.
or
PJ3/Lillard or Rivers

It comes back to the tired debate of either a pass-first PG vs. outside shot PG (or Lillard).

Not only has Marshall improved his stock by getting injured but the play of Watson and tinsley pass first pgs and how well the jazz offense flows while there are in has improved Marshall's value with jazz fans.

I would draft Marshall at 8 it is a reach but he will be gone by 13 or 14 then the best big, sf, tweener on the board next. Right now I am higher on Tjones then I was but not as high as when the season started. I think him patrolling off the bench the 3/4 would help out the second team. Trade either millsap or Jefferson for a starting sf and next year the jazz will be in the playoffs.

Completely untrue.

Completely untrue.

How did he not improve his stock when he got injured? That showed how much value he had to unc when the couldn't score against ku. I have read from multiple sources that he improved his value when he hurt his wrist and showed his value how is that untrue.

I really don't think Marshall will be available with our second pick. Rivers might though, and I'd really like a Marshall/Rivers draft.

In the future we would have a three man rotation down low of Favors/Kanter/Millsap, a three man rotation on the wings of Hayward/Rivers/Burks, with Marshall making it all mesh together.

Is it bad that I am now thinking getting the GS pick next year might be worth it.

When the Warriors attempt to tank this year (and fail), it will result in the Jazz getting the 8th or 9th pick. Next year, the Warriors think they'll be where the Jazz are now, around 13 - 17. So it's the difference between a lotto pick this year and a mid-first round pick next year. The Warriors saw this too, which is why they're trying to tank this year. I think the Jazz need to seize this opportunity to grab a PG while they can.

Everyone knew how important he was to their offense. Just look at how bad they were before he became a starter last year.
