If you haven't herd Tom Benson has bought the New Orleans Hornets and he wants to rebrand. Heres what he said in the press conference "We need to find a name like (Jazz)," Benson said, referring to New Orleans first NBA team that relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. "Whether we can get that or let us use that, you've got to know we're working on it. We'd like to change it tomorrow. We have not gotten that approved, but we're not letting up on it, either. Because we've got a good relationship with the commissioner and his people and we're going to be on them daily to do something."

At the end of the day no name fits our city (New Orleans) better than Jazz and theres nothing Jazz about Utah. How attached are yall to the name would yall consider giving up the name? I know yall have had the name for the last 30 years but we had it first.

I bet the deal to buy the Hornets from the NBA went something like this:

Stern: "You buy this crap of a team from us and we'll give you Anthony Davis"
Henson: "Done and done"

If they changed the team to Bluesrockers I would be all for it.

But I am extremely attached to the name. Don't want to give it up.

That old man is high. Jazz aren't giving up the name for nothing.

Rumor was when the Hornets relocated to New Orleans, George Shinn then owner of the Hornets had a chance to buy the name back for 1.5 million.

I don't care if you had it first or that it suits your city better. Be creative, pick another name.

This is only the second time I have ever given out neg rep, but you have earned it. Change your avatar or GTFO.

lol, "Thanks for deducting reputation from this user!" is what it said. Kind of made me feel good about doing it.........

I'll tell you what.. I'll make the trade if all of Jazz fandom gets free boobie magazines for life.

The history of this franchise is very important to most jazz fans. I can't speak for most fans, but this team as been a big part of my life. For twenty years (1984-2004) it was Stockton to Malone, one of the iconic duo's in NBA history, with a legendary coach putting it all together. We may be a small market, but we have a rich history. Somehow if we gave up the name and logo, to me it's like giving up the past if I were owner of the jazz I would hold onto the naming rights with everything I have.

If Larry H Miller were still alive I know he wouldn't give up the name either. With His son Greg Miller CEO of the jazz I couldn't say for sure. I hope the jazz brand is as important to him as well.

Hope this makes you understand, your not getting this name back!

You did have the name first but your city was not able to support a basketball franchise so it had to leave. It seems as though the city of NO might just always struggle to support a team. My advice to you is to make sure you can sustain a team and then come asking about a name. Until then, stop wasting our time with ridiculous ideas. Honestly, you have bigger problems on your hands.

The truly ironic part of this is, the name "jazz" is synonymous with NO. while the state of UT. Nickname is the Beehive state, so hornets actually fits.

We don't care though!
