White Men Stabbed Outside Grocery Store

Nice. I am getting my CC soon. My dad has his and carries his Judge with him. That thing is a hand cannon.

Wanting to ban guns is just about as irrational as being against gay marriage. I'm sure Lundegarrd is pissed about this article, they should have used their fists of fury and or nunchucks.

Agreed.

Beautiful. Omitting the guns that saved lives out of stories has to be one of the most common forms of censorship in America so it's always good to point them out when they aren't.

Opposition to gay marriage, as I understand it, stems largely from an irrational fear of gays. I believe it's hard to argue that homosexuality, or gay marriage does anyone harm, particularly third parties.

Guns do, however, harm people, and the rate of gun violence in the US is quite high. Concern about how concealed carry laws affect the likelihood/incidence of gun violence does not strike me as irrational but rather seems to be to be a legitimate concern. A matter, I think, that is best resolved with evidence than with ideology. (I have no idea what the actual evidence is, though I'd guess it varies depending on who's presenting it and the biases they bring to the table.)

"This message is hidden because jimmy eat jazz is on your ignore list."

If this is anything like the posts I read before the ingore feature came into play then damn that feature is worth its weight in gold.

Well take a look and see. Maybe I'm earning my way out of your ignore list. Just trying to give an alternative view of things, though in a less douche-baggy way than before.

Awesome story. Drugs are illegal but people still get them. What makes you think banning guns will be any different? If anything more stuff like this would happen. I don't go into businesses that have a sign that says "No Guns Allowed" Why not put up a sign that says "Robbers, come in and run a muck noone is going to stop you." I'm not going into one of those places and get caught with my pants down when someone decides to rob it.

For what it's worth, there was a recent study published and available on internet (reported in various news websites) based on a nationally representative survey of people in US. The large majority of respondents, including both conservative and liberal, supported moderate 'gun control' measures, such as waiting periods or background checks. I don't think there are very many people who are advocating outright banning guns. Those relatively few who do, based on these survey results, could legitimately be considered extreme on this issue.

Serious question: Doesn't the U have a "no guns allowed" policy? I know that there was a big to do about it when that dude went on that shooting rampage at Virginia Tech.

Not that anyone would every generalize from a sample size of one.

By "more lives" I meant two, as in the number of stabbing victims in this story.

I completely disagree on the ideology part. I'm not interested in arguing the evidence end either, but if you're really interested then you'll be hard pressed to prove guns = higher violence. Americans are more violent than many of our OECD peers but trying to correlate the violence to guns has not only proved futile but it's irrational as a hypothesis. It's actually comical to start arguing guns means violence in a thread about a violent knife attack.

Anyway, this thread is about racism and not guns.

There's no reason to even frame the discussion in such an irrelevant way. Violent people don't need guns to be violent, as illustrated in this article. Ban guns and those who want to commit a violent crime will do it another way. The majority of them already are.

Fair enough. I guess my main point was I don't see concerns about guns as irrational as some other said, at least not irrational in the sense that opposition to gays and same sex marriage is irrational.

True, violent people don't need guns to be violent, but the fact that they have guns would seem to me to risk increasing the lethality of that violence. I would guess it does increase the risk and the incidence of lethal violence, but then I'm just guessing.

It seems to me that illegal violence committed with firearms is often committed with an illegally obtained firearm (convicted felon in possession of a firearm purchased illegally). Therefore I'm skeptical that banning all firearms would lead to a drop in violent crime.

Have you questioned the reasoning leading up to your apparent fear of guns?

Not lying, I was there about 30 minutes before this took place. Scary as ****.
