What's new

Howard gets the starting nod again!!

Can we stay on topic here? that being that Corbin is one of the bottom 10 worst coaches in the NBA. We need to flush the Jerry Sloan croonies out.

Wouldn't be surprised if he gave Raja Bell minutes too. Lets face it, the Jazz aren't beating the Spurs regardless, but the whole idea of making the playoffs was to get the young guys a taste. Corbin is doing his best to accomplish the nightmare scenario: a quick sweep, no draft pick, and no experience for the rooks.

I'd start Evans at the sf spot. We're not getting much from that position anyway. I think you beat the Spurs by putting as much athletic talent on the floor as possible.

I just don't ****ing get it. We had a great thing going prior to Howard and Bell coming back. Not sure what the heck Corbin is thinking.

My biggest issue with Ty prior to the season beginning was that he wasn't ready to manage this roster. Too inexperienced. As it turned out, injuries forced his hand into playing the younger guys more often. But I will give him some credit in that they didn't fold up like a tent during rough stretches like most NBA teams in the lotto did.

He can't be blamed for losing a series to the Spurs this year as they're the top seed, but I was disappointed in how he threw Howard right back into the lineup for the Phoenix game, and then again in Game 1. Seemed like a really, really conservative move - Play the guy who's proven he can score in the league and is a capable starter (regardless if that was a few years ago and pre-knee injuries). The bottom line is that Corbin is in over his head, and this is further proof of that.

We need to attack the Spurs with a nothing-to-lose attitude. Not a guarded, timid approach playing our veterans.

Even if those players are gone, I guarantee that they will be replaced by some other washed up has been vet that will get a lot of munutes. There has never been a year in Jazz history where we didnt have some lousy vet on our team that the coach's cant get enough of. It happens every year with out fail.

There are three certainties in life

Death
Taxes
Jazz coach determined to play a terrible vet in front of a deserving young guy. No matter how bad they play.
They will get burn just to stick it to the fans, cause they dont know crap.

I think there is alot of truth to this. I have seen this and been frustrated by this same scenario for years and years.

Things i would prefer to starting howard on wednesday: 1. Start hayward at the 3, with burks at shooting guard. 2. Start millsap at the small forward. 3. start evans at the small forward. 4. Start carroll at the small forward.

These are in no particular order i just think any of those starting lineups would be better than what we will start with tomorrow.

Yes....This!

Unbelievable. Or at least, I wish it were unbelievable.

It might be genius on Corbin's part, but starting Favors instead of Howard (i.e. using the big lineup) seems like such an obvious thing to do to me. I fully expect Howard to stink again. If not, I'll tip my hat to Ty.

Eh. He only played like 15 minutes in game 1. He's hardly why they lost. Wouldn't mind seeing Jeremy Evans get a better shot but doubt that would happen.

My starting lineup preference at the 3 position.

1) Start Favors at the 4/5 and Millsap at the 3 - obviously our best lineup and probably should be #1. The should all be playing 35-40min a night as we have no need to rest players. Gives us the best chance to win

1A) Start Carroll- as this is what we have done the last part of the season and showed great hustle and energy. Give favors and the 3 bigs the majority of the minutes though.

2) Start Hayward at the 3, burks at the 2. Will never happen, but I would love to see it.

Should Never have happened - Howard start after being out of the lineup 2 months and ruining any momentum or chemistry this team has gained going into the playoffs.

BAD move by Ty Corbin. I'm pushing for a Nate McMillan hire in the off season

Experience goes a long way, coach Ty Corbin said, as does past playoff performance. And Howard might have the most playoff experience of any player on the roster.

FUTURE
we are building for the future.
Howard wont be here in the future.
and his past playoff perfomances dont matter cus we are in the present.

**** this canceling nbalp.

i bought lp for the playofs for 40 euros(it was either 40 euros or pay 5 bucks per game) i reckon the jazz would go in 5 or maybe 6 games. so paying an extre 5-10 bucks for the rest of the games was worth it.
but if howard starts i aint watching that game.
i stopped watching after howard started the 2nd half.

atleats hayward and favors are getting playoff experience

you wanna know why we lsot cus we aint played a perfect game.
to beat the spurss you gotta play perfect.
starting howard and playing him 1 second aint a perfect game cus you screwed up from the start and played him 1 second.

people might say howard doesnt matter. IT DOES.
he isnt the sole reason we lost. but he is one of the reasons we lsot.
I dont expect jazz to win the series, but with oward starting the jazz will get sweaped

Why isn't Bell playing? I'm assuming he must be hurt. Obviously we could use his finals experience.

The starting unit already has plenty of playoff experience. The reserve unit does not. Wouldn't Howard's alleged experience be more helpful playing with the reserves?

Starting Carroll or Evans isn't going to make up the difference. Get over it.

I agree with all of the above Except giving up on Corbin so soon. I how much passion corbin has and intensity. I think the players like him. I think he deserves a few more years before being judged even though he has make some bad mistakes..... I mean we are in the playoffs when no one thought we would be.
