Favors' Impact in the Spurs Series (Let Favors' Play!)

I think Corbin is clearly worried about the Jazz getting burnt by 3's with Sap at SF, and has a legitimate concern. I think it is about time he swallow the bullet and give the lineup some major PT. I wouldn't start Favors, but I would put him in about 4-6 minutes into the game.

It's not just Favors. Every game some players can have a very good or not very good game.

Coaches need to know how to adjust the game every single night and not to make auto-subs.

If Corbin can't do it in such obvious case as "Favors" - than he is already pathetic.

And that kind of bad decisions we all saw the hole season.

Now it's KOC's turn to make some decisions after this season.

hahahaha

Corbin is the equivalent of playing NBA2k with auto subs on. It always does some dumb **** so you have to change it to manual

I thought we were already getting burned in every facet of the game. How would that be a legitimate concern? It can't get any worse at this point. And if that is what he thinks then he is just wrong. Millsap getting burned by a three is the least of our problems. Plus he doesn't look so good down in the post defending right now anyways.

This is just so stupid. Millsap is closer to a 3 than he is a 4 anyways.

Today at practice Tyrone Corbin said “Derrick (Favors) should play more. I need to find a way to get him more minutes on the floor, if it is the big line-up .. playing him at the 4 or playing small, we have to see .. with him on the floor we are better.”

Well golly gee, if there were only someone on the team who could make that decision!

I have the same problem with dinner. How do I get that food into my belly? I'll figure it out one of these days.

or just get a coach who will play favors 30-35 minutes a game.

True. I should have stated "This would be a benefit to trading Jefferson", there are plenty of reasons to trade him besides this. And favors needs to play 30-35 despite having AJ on the team, but he hasn't. I think an AJ trade is more likely than Corbin being fired though.

wow corbin is beyond retarded, howard and to some extent caroll are useless, heck even jefefrson is useless
heck the whole firckin lineup is useless .

if howards playoff experience is that valuable **** it give favors
5 minutes at point
5 at sg
5 at sf
10 at pf
10 at center

there you have it i magically found 45 minutes for favors

This evidence really says something about Corbin's abilities as a coach. I did not need to see these number to know they were better with him on the floor. It really should not have taken Corbin this long either.

but we can not see intangibles :D

Question from media: When you took Favors out of the game in the 2nd quarter, by the time he came back in the spurs had gone on a 29-12 run. Watching the film, do you start thinking we should get him back in sooner for the defensive presence he provides?

Ty: They went on a 22-2 run to finish the half. I mean, I don't think that, you know, one guy makes a difference.

Says it all right there

He's a fool, and I never come away from listening to him thinking, "wow, that really makes a ton of sense; that was very insightful". I always wonder if they even look at advanced stats at all on this team. It seems like they determine rotations based off of "gut-feeling" and general maxims like "experience wins championships". In my heart of hearts, I really don't think Ty's horrendous, but he has definitely shown a propensity to being mediocre, conservative, and anything but innovative. One guy doesn't make that much of a difference in the NBA, so there's no need to make trades since one person doesn't make all that much difference. Brilliant, Milkman, Brilliant!

He has a point though. If we are relying on Favors to prevent that 22-2 run, we are losing the game no matter what. The team as a whole has to perform better and hit open shots. How many open shots did Hayward miss in that first half? We all want to blame this squarely on Corbin's shoulders for not playing Favors enough, but the players themselves are severely under performing.

Once we get Favors playing more then we can work on the next issue. One thing at a time. Favors getting under 30 mpg is the biggest problem so get that corrected first.

Ty is right, one guy CAN'T make that much of a difference.
The reason that the Jazz win with Favors on the floor is because
1) Favors is a defensive beast
2) When Favors is out, Al or Sap come in. So it's a double subtraction. 1 subtraction is Favors off the floor, the other is having Al or Sap on the floor (mostly Al).
