I think KOC was way too eager to put veterans on the squad, and it's going to come back to bite him. Imagine getting a good rotation player like Kawhi Leonard in this draft. They would have been much further ahead next year with extra talent than experiencing the playoffs (a.k.a. confidence-shattering drubbing). Hayward may never recover...heck he'll probably spend all summer in his mom's basement playing video games.

Even though I was high on Leonard, there is a chance he just looks good because he is able to be a 5th option starter and just feed off easy looks. Saying if we drafted him he would be doing the same thing isn't necessarily accurate.

I'm just going to come out and say it. Corbin is indeed a dumb ***. That, or he's out-thinking himself and the end result is the same. Carroll wasn't the difference in winning us this series or not, and giving Howard a shot wasn't a bad idea, but it was plainly obvious he just was not ready to play and not only did he start the first three games, he still got the nod over Carroll tonight, initially.

Get smarter, dude. ****ing please.

I wish people would stop saying stupid things like this. The question is would you rather make the playoffs and get swept or get a draft pick and miss the playoffs.
No one wants the players or coaches to lose on purpose. Some of us wanted the jazz to play as hard as they can but maybe houston or pheonix just goes on a tear to finish season and we just miss the playoffs. That way we keep our pick, the jazz keep playing hard and learning, and pheonix or houston gets swept by san antonio.

Then next year we come in guns blazing with even more talent than this year and more experience and we make some noise in the playoffs.

Of course a pick would be nicer than a 4 game beatdown at this point. It's a stupid question. But how could the Jazz control what other teams do? Was it worth it to let Houston not win more games?

Howard getting any mins was just stupid. Seemed like every time he was in the game we got further and further behind.

Reminded me of how Orlando lost their Finals. Alston was playing well and got them to the Finals, then Nelson came back from injury kicking & screaming and the coach puts him back in the lineup. Obviously they lost.

We should have stuck with Caroll playing well and keep it going. Hindsight's always easy though.

"They, They, They, They..."

"How good these guys are (spurs)"

That's all i'm hearing from Corbin's press conference tonight.

Forget about them. Talk about us. How can we be better.

I think it's hard to really doubt KOC. He has managed the Jazz quite well. They were picked to be one of the worst teams in the NBA and they made the playoffs. Corbin I think remains to be seen. KOC can't really control how Corbin uses the players.

Yes. Hayward and the team now know how much harder they have to work. If this doesn't drive them to improve themselves, I don't know what will.

You know what else would have made them know how much harder they need to work? Just missing the playoffs.
If they just miss the playoffs then they know that they need to get a lot better and they have a hunger to get to those playoffs.

Now they are all probably just depressed and down and have low confidence.... not sure thats a good thing

I am almost certain that Corbin's coaches suffer from groupthink. No one thinks differently, and none of the coaches even speak out. If this team wants to get better, they need to shake up the coaching staff with diverse individuals. I'm befuddled that the Jazz 3 point shooting is that terrible considering that Horny is a coach. We should throw money at the Zenmaster haha but it ain't going to happen.

The jazz cant control what other teams do so let me tell you again...... The question being asked is: would you rather make the playoffs and get swept or get a draft pick and miss the playoffs? And you said in your post above "of course a pick would be nicer than a 4 game beatdown". So there is the answer. (and i agree with that answer)

I'm with Cy, and I think it's funny that the % is as high as it is. I did a poll before the Playoffs and it was over 66% of the people that wanted to go to the Playoffs, and we knew we would lose. There are plenty of reasons why a person wouldn't be happy after the fact, but it's funny how quickly it changes. I hope Hayward vows never to have a series like this again and realizes how much he has to improve. We also learned what Favor's is made of and Big Al. This helps KOC make decisions as to who can produce in the Playoffs and who can't at this point.

Well call up Doc Brown and Marty McFly and lets go back and barely lose some games already!

We lost the pick when we traded for Jefferson. We were going to give it up eventually. This year, next year, not a huge difference. Unless you buy into the draft depth hype, but really that's just an every other year thing. Last year's draft was supposedly shallow, so this year's draft is supposedly deep.

Our own first has become a tradeable asset again, a bonus that might just balance out the difference in perceived draft depth. So, yes, making the playoffs was worth it. Trading the pick for Jefferson? We might just find out this summer if he's worth a mid first round pick

If you dont like the poll or thread then dont vote and dont discuss.
The thread was made knowing what we now know.
For this poll we have hindsight so that is what is being voted on and discussed.

This is a very good post and very good insight.... But this draft IS deeper because of the lockout.... You see last year player like barnes, sullinger, etc would have came out but didn't because they didn't know if there would be a season, so now all the guys that would have came out last year are coming out now along with the guys that would have came out this year anyway.
So it is almost like combining half of last years draft with this years draft, making it extremely deep.

it's an extremely deep draft indeed - but might not be as deep as people thought. Barnes/Rivers/Jones/Sullinger's weaknesses were exposed, Drummond and Lamb had a very disappointing year. Thomas Robinson - who is projected to go #2 right now, is a 6-8 PF who is older than Favors and completely relies on athleticism to overpower his opponent... the only sure thing from this draft is Anthony Davis. Beal and MKG caught on fire towards the end of the season, but they lack superstar potential.

Sure, it'd be nice to get someone like Kendall Marshall, but he's a far worse shooter than even Harris. Damian Lillard could be useful but he won't make an immediate impact next year. Only players that could really help us next year are Beal and Lamb - and they aren't going to fall past #7 anyway (I do think Lamb will be special though, he was a legit #1 option until UCONN's own implosion...)

I think a hard playoff series is something you have to experience to really know just what it is like. Yeah, you may think you know how hard you have to work, but until you see 1st hand how hard successful playoff teams play, you really have no idea.

This should embarrass our guys and make them hungry for redemption.

NO anyone who says it was worth it is a Jazz idiot HOmer. We can't stay competitive in the future if our team is barely competitive now without adding pieces. YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT KOC you peon!
