Pop's Brilliance

During our series with the Spurs, a reporter told Favors that a certain player thought that Favors played like him. The clip started just a tad too late to hear who it was, but I thought it was Duncan saying that Favors played like him and that he liked his game. I would love Favors to buddy up with Duncan. I've gotten a lot more respect for Duncan's game particularly on the defensive end, and he's such a smart player. He's an absolute winner.

I like how his footwork/movement are so measured & calculated. No wasted moves. Everything is calculated & efficient.

Hibbert is starting to play that way too, it's quite apparent.

And now you see Pop abandoning the strategy to pressure Paul. With this lead, you avoid the fouls. The guy just knows how to make adjustments.

I just googled it. Hibbert was able to start working out with Duncan because George Hill workouts in San Antonio, so he took some of his teammates with him to join in.

Still wish Hibbert would have slipped to us in the draft. I was really high on his size.

Personally, I had Hibbert tagged as big, slow, and underskilled. He's proved me very wrong. But at the same time, I don't envy Indiana's situation of figuring out what to pay him.

I think they'd be stupid not to throw him or match anything less than max.

It's on page 2.

Just double-checked. Favors's reaction was "oh...really? He one of the great power forwards...."

Definitely Duncan. Great find. Will rep when possible.

He's absolutely NOT a Max Player. He looked like one tonight against Anthony and Miami is so undersized that he just cleaned up on the glass. But he's not an elite center, and really not a great defensive player. He's also very good. So you're stuck overpaying him, but there has to be a cutoff number. Not sure what that number is. On average, 10's a steal and 14 is probably too much. The fact he hasn't been hurt is huge to his value, though, maybe too huge.

May be not exactly 'max'. But I'd pay close to 14m. A Center with that size, is defensive & is fast developing his offensive game with a 'money' go-to move like that is pretty hard to come by.

Leonard is a sore spot for me. He was my pick if we couldn't land Kanter as well as before we jumped in the lottery (still wanted Kanter above him but then his stock shot before the ping long balls). Anyway, never fathomed he could be there for our second pick. I agree that Burks does have a higher ceiling, but I'm uncertain on how high the odds of him reaching that are. That being said, I'd love Lillard/Hayward/Leonard/Favors/Kanter.

I can't really disagree. I can't get a feel on what he's worth. He's much better than Chandler offensively, much worse defensively. Outside a max deal, I'll probably just shrug at any other deal he gets.

Yeah me too. Defense, offense. Length, speed. Inside, outside. And nobody playing out of position.

I know we can't have it, but there't nothing stopping me from playing that on my 2K13. LOL..

He was. I never thought he would ever shoot 37 from 3 in the NBA. But the second the Spurs made the Hill deal to get him, I felt snookered. His defense and rebounding translated as everyone thought it would, but his ability to plug in and shoot 3's blows my mind. He's going to be cheap and awesome for them for years to come just like Green. The Spurs are so smart.

his abilty to shoot the 3 is a product of the spurs offensive philosophy.

Burks ability to get to the line is the big indicator. Especially when you factor in that Ty practically shut him down as a driver. If Burks is allowed to create a little more next year we'll start to see more of his ceiling.

In fairness to Ty, Burks was not ready to do that early this year. So he had to be reined in. But Burks handled it well and I suspect he'll be given a little more latitude to make plays.

Burks ceiling has to be Harden. While Leonard's ceiling is probably Bowen.

Harden was not a super-star in his first year. Some even questioned whether OKC should have gone with Tyreke. Look at it like that and we still had a pretty good pick.

They win like a well-oiled machine--even when they have a player or two not playing well. It's remarkable to think of how many games they have lost since March 21. They have won 28 out of 30 including the Playoffs, if they win tonight, (one of these losses was against us--their scrubs). Incredible, winning percentage.

Not to nitpick but it's 27 out of 29 games including the playoffs. Either way it's still an amazing record.

I watch Diaw, who is very skilled, and it makes me think that he is the type of player we need to target. We could use multi-dimensional guys, vets maybe, who can do everything, shoot, pass, dribble, rebound. Hayward and Burks may be such guys I suppose. But a vet off the bench or to start at the 3 in that mold would be nice.

I believe it also to be a by-product of coaching and culture. Can Corbin coach like this while still instituting great, inherent trust and confidence in players? Nope. Hence, why JVG and SVG make sense.

You know, the Jazz don't look so bad now that the Clippers are being manhandled by the Spurs.
Blake Griffin got only 1 rebound yesterday.
Chris Paul- 8 TO's

Spurs vs. Jazz in 2 games---220-174
