Pop's Brilliance

Didn't get to see the game, but I thought it was very sporting of the Spurs to spot the Clips a 20 point first quarter lead.

Leonard is a sore spot for me. He was my pick if we couldn't land Kanter as well as before we jumped in the lottery (still wanted Kanter above him but then his stock shot before the ping long balls). Anyway, never fathomed he could be there for our second pick. I agree that Burks does have a higher ceiling, but I'm uncertain on how high the odds of him reaching that are. That being said, I'd love Lillard/Hayward/Leonard/Favors/Kanter.

do you think leanord would be as awesome on the jazz.
with veterans like howard/bell playing inf ront of him because of some mythicla playoff experince and vet pressence? NO WAY!

Or that HUGE hand of his.
no if i wa slike prodigy i would make some youtube clips.
there where plays when all cetrtain players did was stand in one spot. just stand there feet set.
the whole offensive possesion. until the defense collapsed and parker passed it out
viola a wide open three whcih even reggie evans would make.

Frank Viola? I think he won 15+ games like 10 years in a row. No Greg Maddux or anything but still.

Are you high or drunk? Which is it?

Spurs now riding an 18 game winning streak. Wow.

They are playing tremendous team basketball. Every guy knows his role and fills it well. They are not super talented with Duncan and Ginobli having lost a bit and the rest are just a bunch of role players. But what a coach.

Has any team ever gone unbeaten in the post season? I'd go even money on the Spurs doing it at this point.

I don't see them sweeping OKC or Miami, but I wouldn't be surprised if they dispatched both teams in 5 games. I don't see them losing more than 3.

Doesn't look like it.

"The San Antonio Spurs own the longest NBA Playoff winning streak for a single postseason with 12 straight wins in the 1999 Playoffs and a 15–2 finish overall. The Los Angeles Lakers own the most dominant post-season appearance with a 15–1 record in the 2001 Playoffs"

For some reason I thought the Lakers went 16-0 once during the Shaq era.

It's what Pop sees in and gets out of players like Bowen, George Hill, Danny Green, Gary Neal, Kawhi Leonard, etc. that makes him the best coach in the league.

What about Jackson making Derek Fisher's career last way longer than it should? Or making Trevor Ariza a sought out FA? Jackson has also taken his fair share of small time role players and made them have small, but integral parts on teams

I haven't engaged in that debate.

But, yeah, Pop >>> Jackson

I would probably lean that way too, but I think it's pretty hard to judge.

Jackson has obviously had a incredible amount of talent, but he did lead 3 separate dynasties to championships (Jordan teams, Kobe/Shaq, Kobe/Gasol).

Popovich for the most part has gotten all of his success out of the same main group of Parker, Ginobili, and Duncan but done a great job of rotating support pieces in and out. I'd be interested to see what he can do with a completely new cast though.

but Parker and Ginobili are fully his own creations. He's been lucky to have Duncan, no doubt, but his teams have been more thoroughly conjured by his own genius than any team ever handed to Jackson. If that sounds too harsh on Jackson, well, it is... but the contrast needs to be stark because I think it's hard to appreciate in any other way when I can only type a few sentences.

Jackson can handle personalities. Cool. Well, I don't support that **** anyway, so whatevar.
