Best place to buy tires?

I usually just get them at costco but I have never really shopped around. Any car savvy folks have better options? I live in Utah county. Thanks

Buy them from a local tire shop -- not from some international chain. Same damn tires, better deal, better service, and it keeps the money local. Of course, I'm biased because my in-laws own a tire shop, but whatever.

It's not your money anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter.

It seems like they are all chains. Maybe I will do some googling to see if I can find s local store close to me.

Not that I try to disagree with Trout at every turn, but......I disagree.

Before becoming an Aircraft Mechanic I worked for Discount Tire Company for 8 years and I still swear by them. During that time, I usually found it hard for the ma and pa tire stores to match Discount's prices because of their nation-wide buying power. In fact, locally owned and locally franchised tire stores almost always have the highest prices around. Not only that, but I dislike the "keep the money local" idea. The guys working at any location of nation-wide tire chain are obviously people who live amongst you in your communities and need the business as well.

But probably my biggest reason for pimping Discount? During my 8 years there, I spent A LOT of time in meetings with the big bosses. Time after time, they drill it into your head that it's not about making a quick buck or screwing over some dumb sap. Even though they're a big time chain, I can honestly say that their biggest concern is taking care of the customer and giving them the best price in town. They know that's the best way to keep people coming back.

Now Trout, I'm sure your in-laws run a nice business and I'm certianly not trying to knock them. In fact, I admire anybody who gets into that line of work. Selling tires is usually a back breaking, thankless, pain in the *** thing to do. Just giving my 0.02 on the matter.......

Good perspective. Rasp is a fool.

Sams club is usually terribly slow and the people who work there are annoying a hell, but it's cheap.

Usually a good family owned tire store, at the expense of mo'money, will steer you in the right direction,

There was a pun in there somewhere

But if you comparison shop, tread lightly or you might hurt the feelings of the small store owner if you end up going with one of the big guys.

And joker, I'd give you reps for the pun, but I don't want to overinflate your ego.

Looks like I matched your pun and raised you one;-0

So now I'm an idiot because I recommended supporting your local business owner, gotcha. You republican racists can go ahead and support Big Business and keep lining the pockets of all those fat-cats sitting on their thumbs laughing all the way to the bank. You all make me sick.

Gods, I'm hungry.

Ya rich people are the devil...
When you bitch about the commoner not doing enough for mom n' pop, you're just bitching for the sake of bitching...

It's the government's involvement that should make you sweat in your sleep. Even if the commoner did all they could to try and promote mom'n'pop business, with government's current track record, the invisible hand that is suppose to guide us and give us all jobs would still continue to bitch slaps every single one of us.

I've bought tires from Certified Tire on 1600 N State in Orem, Discount Tire, and Pep Boys on State in Orem. I've had great success with Firestone on 8th North and State as well, but not with tires.
