Pertaining to Jazz getting into the 1st round

Insider article so I will paraphrase:

There hasn't been much chatter about the Utah Jazz and the upcoming NBA draft, in part because they don't have a pick in the first round. However, they do have an overabundance of talent in the frontcourt (Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter), which means they at least have the ability to trade into the first round if the right deal comes along. A question about who is untouchable is asked to KOC and he gives his usual snood remarks. Saying, if Shaq and Wilt could be traded anyone could. The last part is about Milsap being traded. How he makes $8.6 million and if he isn't traded before the draft we can plan on hearing rumors about him throughout the year.

Not much but thought I would share.

Thanks for sharing.

As far as Espn is concerned they are the biggest rip off ever concerning Espn insider. If you know where to look you can get all that info for free and the stuff you can't find is usually pure speculation by the writer.

I think it would be more like Favors and Al starting with Millsap backing up ... but I would rather trade Al and keep Kanter, though that doesn't solve our PG problem.

Exactly... we can't get something out of nothing.

Looking into the horizon I think it's a good gamble if we can get someone of the Rondo/Curry caliber to pull together our young guys.

Wow. You said something we agree on. Did you just have a birthday?

I would only do that if the Jazz sign a couple shooters or trade for one. Not sure what Rondo will be like without Allen, an excellent mid range shooter in KG and a decent shooter in Pierce

Shooters we can find, but elite PG are so hard to come by..

Also we already have Millsap who's also an excellent mid range shooter.

Al has made it clear that he now plays Center and not PF.

So I think KOC sits down and talks to Al - can he play back up to Favors & Millsap pairing and take a salary cut. If not we trade him at the dateline or let him go.

I don't think Al would be interested being a backup for the Utah Jazz.

I just wonder...

If we have a chance to trade Kanter + a future pick (say next year's GSW), for someone like Rondo, Curry, etc. Would KOC do it?

We can then look to keep Millsap and play him next to Favors as our future frontline. Favors being C and Millsap being the starting PF. Millsap is a known commodity. He seems happy here and he's clutch. If Favors can turn into a defensive player ala Howard - why not keep Millsap? He can hit those mid range shots, stretch the defense and Favors can serve as our pivot. Similar to Hibbert's role in Indiana.

C - Favors
PF - Millsap
SF - Hayward
SG - Burks
PG - Rondo/Curry

For Rondo I like it. I'm not so sure about Curry with the ankle. Even with both being healthy I would rather have Rondo. That dude is a beast come playoff time. Everyone overvalues the potential GS pick. I could definitely see a Milsap and Favors combo. Pick up a servicable backup center and we're looking real good.

My problem with Millsap is that he is going to be looking for 10 million plus a year. Does anyone think he is worth that? On this board we always think these guys are loyal and will sign for some low ball offer. ( See Wes Matthews). Someone will pay Millsap 10 million and I hope to hell that we dont pony that **** up.

Well.. I wanted Rondo all along when I thought about that trade.

I just added Curry there so PKM doesn't have his tail up too much.

:D

It's hilarious to watch the pro-trading Millsap instead of Jefferson crowd become more vocal. AS if by trading Millsap that would be beneficial to Favors.

Great. Favors would get more PT.

But as long as we have Black Hole on offense, Favors is going to be limited to rebounding Hole's bricks.

The real problem we have isn't with Millsap vs Favors and Millsap preventing Favors from growing. The real problem is that we have a Black Hole on offense who is preventing literally EVERYONE ELSE from becoming involved in the offense. All while playing horrific defense and being paid $14+ million per year for it.

At least Millsap can play some 3, rebound, get steals, pass, doesn't rock the offense, plays a role, and has a good contract, or do something positive to us winning. Jefferson? Is literally worthless unless he's getting his weezy and 20+ shots per night going. And even then... It comes at the team's expense.

Trading Jefferson should be this team's #1 priority. It doesn't matter who is our PG or who/when we draft this year, whether Favors starts, whether Hayward develops a 3 point shot, etc as long as we have a Black Hole on offense.

GROSS mischaracterization.

I stand reprimanded.

I wasn't intending to reprimand, just to explain.

If it was a decision between trading Millsap or Jefferson then it is Jefferson all the way.

Getting a draft pick is a priority in my opinion. If trading Millsap means getting into the top 10 then I seriously look at that. If all Jefferson can bring back is a bad contract and a late first rounder I consider that only after I know what I can get from Millsap.
