Thought this was interesting since most of you are sold on Lilliard.

I think he's getting over-hyped right now. His defense did NOT look impressive (in the clips) and his passing needs work, but he can score... I'm torn on him. I thought he would be a late lottery pick type of player before his recent surge.

With all that said, I would love the Jazz to land him. However, I do feel like I need to state that I am a Weber State alum. Vested interests ya'know.

locke is funny. he picked 2 of lillards more off nights and then broke them down like its exactly what to expect.. seems strange that a "scout" like locke would base scouting opinion on 2 games.

he says at 1 point that lillard doesnt get involved with rebounding... ya know... one of the games he was watching lillard collected 10 rebs (29 pts 10 rebs 7 ast)

Sometimes locke gives insightful observerations, sometimes not so much so i usually try to take his opinions with a grain of salt.

agree with those picking on locke's selective scouting... having said that, this shows pretty much the same concerns i've had about him all along:

1) he frequently makes the wrong decisions.
2) he has probably never attempted an on-balanced jump shot in his life.

he could get past all that and become a nice NBA player. but if the jazz got to the top 6 it better be to take one of the clear best 6 players in this draft (davis, robinson, beal, mkg, barnes and drummond, in some order).

I think he'll display some better point guard skills in the NBA. He had some pretty incompetent teammates at Weber and I'm not really a fan of the offense that Randy Rahe runs. This seems like a guy that a team or two fell in love with and now his value is getting overblown. I would love to have him on the Jazz but not at the current asking price.

how is it selective?

I was just reading an article of a draft discussion between bill simmons and chad ford. Ford compared lillard to jay williams that used to play for duke. I like the comparison and williams was drafted #2 behind yao ming.

Now i know alot people will say "but look at the level of competition, you cant compare playing at duke to playing at weber state". That is true, but you could also say that if lillard had boozer, maggette, battier, and brand on his college team then he would still look really good and probably move up even more in the draft.

Anyway i though it was a good comparison and thought i would share.

What I mean is you make it sound like he picked those games to make him look bad, and I disagree with that

just doesn't cast a very wide net in terms of looking at different situations. to someone else's point, he picked two games and one of those was probably lillard's worst game of the year. in a certain light i appreciate analysis of a player that looks beyond the highlight reel and considers what they've struggled with, but at the same time, it makes it seem like all locke did was ask for those two game tapes and now he thinks he's a lillard expert.

conversely, a lot of the basketball world has seen lillard have rearlly good private workouts where he's not even head-to-head with anybody and THEY think they're lillard experts too. the truth may well lie somewhere in between.

I saw Lilliard about 20 times this year in person. Does that make me an expert?

I also think it makes you more an expert than most.

So what is your analysis of lillard? Is he fast and quick enough, have good enough range, size, leadership, confidence, handle etc etc?

Locke is an unbelievable homer. I bet you he's making these videos just so he can hind behind the excuse of "well there as simply no player worth trading for into the first round" in the instance that KOC can't put together a package to get for him. Watch, if we somehow land Lillard, he's going to make an entirely different video talking about how amazing he is, completely contradicting many of the points he made in this video. As big of a homer as they come.
