What's new

Would you take Marson Brooks for the GS pick?

I remember when you all wanted that fool Cole Aldrich. That would have been an absolute WASTE.

And by the way, get off Marshon's jock. This is his 2nd year, not like he's Jet Terry or Iverson, been in the league for over 10 or somethin. He could become Kobe in 7 years, never know. Then a big rumor will surface that O Connor was going to trade the GS pick for him and we will all be damning O Connor for eternitiy or something and forget that we damned Marshon Brooks, talked of him like garbage...

But I do agree, not interested in Brooks. We got Deron Washington.

Not me. I said he would never be able to get that ugly shot off in the NBA and wasn't worth a lottery pick. I've been wrong on a lot of other players, but not Aldrich.

I'll admit I also wanted X. Henry over Hayward and was one of those saying "WTF" when KOC chose Gordon.

He seems like a knucklehead.

...never heard of him. Where did he play college ball? DID he play college ball? What AND1 team did he play for? Does he have a police record? Busted for drugs?
And finally.....is there any part of his body not covered with jailhouse tats???

So, this is a question for everyone that doesn't want Brooks. How do you feel knowing that the Clippers offered up a lottery protected pick in order to get Brooks onto their team? Does that hurt or help the Clippers?

Forever made me like Greg Monroe.

I liked him before but this solidified it.

One more thought. With 4:00 left in the 3rd quarter, Burks is 0-5 fg 1-2 ft 1 reb 0 ast and 4 TO's. Try not to get all worked up over what Brooks couldn't do on the court today. Burks is struggling just as much and they are playing about the same amount of minutes.

Here is Brooks line for the day:

0-10 fg 3-3 ft 4 reb 4 ast 4 TO 3 pts

Here we go.... :

The Clippers have emerged as the fourth team involved in Dwight Howard trade negotiations with the Magic, Nets and Cavaliers.

Los Angeles would provide an additional first round pick in exchange for MarShon Brooks.

The Bobcats, Jazz and Wolves also could be in play for Brooks, reports Ken Berger.

I would consider giving up one of our picks for him. Not sure if I'd give up the GS pick, but maybe.

Can we even trade our own pick next year since we didn`t have a first round pick this year and are not guaranteed to get the GS pick?

Yes the Jazz could. The rule only counts toward future picks, meaning the Jazz couldn't trade their 2013 and 2014 first round picks right now. But the Jazz could trade their 2013 pick, and immediately after the 2013 draft they could trade their 2014 pick.

Clips don't have a GM at the moment, so they are pulling straws to some extent, but as I said above, I think Brooks is worth a Top 20 Protected pick and the Clippers need depth at 2/3, so it makes sense. If I was KOC, I would look to be that 4th team.

Although you do have to wonder why Orlando would take Luke Walton, Damian James, Sheldon Williams, and Armon Johnson and not Marshon Brooks, when he is still under his rookie contract and can score. Out of all those names, Marshon is the only one who could be a real player in the league. Maybe he is too much of a head case?

....the Clippers? Burn um....then burn the ashes!

The Clippers haven't committed yet, so the Jazz still have a chance to sneak in and grab MarShon Brooks if they really wanted to.

Brooks averaged only 11 shots per game and made almost half of them with a 43% field goal percentage on the year. A very good three-point shooter despite his 31% from the three-point line. 12.6 pts, 3.6 rebs, 2.3 asts, one steal, one three per game last year and 76% from the free-throw line last year as a rookie.

Bell finally got bought-out, leaving Burks and Murphy at shooting-guard and getting Brooks would definitely help in my opinion.

Why does everybody think the Warriors are going to be bad next year? Their starting-five is going to be Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Lee, and Bogut. If they stay healthy and that is a big if, I think they are going to be pretty good and the Jazz would get a pick in the 15-22 range. I would trade the Golden State pick for Brooks, even though that isn't the popular opinion.

I think you answered your own question. Well, maybe it's a combination of the health issues some of their key guys have had along with some wishful thinking.

No thanks. Let's develop Burks, who is a better player. The only thing Brooks does better is three point shooting.

If Burks had played for the nets last year, he puts up just as good of numbers or better. Burks will put more pressure on defenses then Brooks. Burks is a slasher who will get to the line and has a good midrange game. Brooks is primarily a jump shooter.

And Burks can't shoot. What do you want in a sg?

I agree with those who have said No. And it has nothing to do with the summer league game.

We have a good young core at all postions EXCEPT PG. While I think Mo can start for several more years, that doesn't mean I'm not in favor of getting a good young PG. What I'd like to see happen is the Jazz draft or sign a PG next year and have him develop under Mo's mentorship, gradually increasing his PT until he's splitting time with Mo and then Williams assuming a Watson-type role.
Outside of that, we'll also need a tough 4/5 to assume Kanter's role as Kanter replaces Jefferson. And depending on what happens with Marvin Williams, we may need a big SF. Brooks might be a nice bench player, but I like Hayward and Burks more as wings.

In two years when you finally get that guy he won't be ready to play while Hayward, Favors, and possibly others will be flourishing. The PG position seems to be the position that takes the longest for players to finally grasp. Trading for a guy who is about to be in his prime would be a much better decision as opposed to drafting one.

I'm shocked no one else replied to this. This post is rife with idiocy. How the hell does this guy have 3 rep power?
