Kings sign Aaron Brooks - Jimmer on way out?

I've always liked Jimmer. Love his game and attitude in college. He definitely went too high in the draft though. Has major decision issues still as a PG, but can you people honestly say he wouldn't be as good or better than Watson or Tinsley? The odds are against that happening instead of picking up another PG option to pick up.

He'd be worth picking up just to play off the bench. There's a chance he even might even *gasp* develop in a better system.

Sactown is a HORRID place to learn how to play the NBA game, along with many other teams.

There are some haters here for sure. "I think I see some Yeeewts calling out the Zooobs". However I see where some people just wouldn't want the headache of bringing in someone who brings in that much locally overplayed hype. It could still work out well. Jimmer needs structure and the Jazz need a young PG that can shoot.

Sorry guys, he'd be a great 2nd PG off the bench. I'd take him in a heartbeat, but I don't see it happening.
 
He can't run an offense, can't shoot off a curl, can't defend anybody...what makes you think he can be a backup pg?

Maybe, but he has to get off the Kings.
 
He wouldn't have to be a savior here. He's a 3 pt/scoring punch off the bench. He shouldn't be forced into being a PG when he clearly isn't. As long as his role is clearly defined I don't see a problem.

Never been a huge fan of Jimmer, but I wouldn't mind him in that role on our team. Coming home/different role could help him.

I'm not blind to ****. I've stated multiple times on this board, dating back to before last year's draft, that I would gladly get behind Jimmer if he wasn't one-dimensional player playing the most important position on the court with absolutely ZERO skills for that position. I would never deny his ability to drain a shot, but that's literally all he can do. He can't pass, he can't handle the ball, he can't play defense, he could barely get to the rim in college and he sure as hell can't get to the rim in the pros.

It's been said over and over again that any move by the organization to bring Jimmer here would not be a basketball decision, it would be a business decision. It would be about putting his name on a jersey and getting BYU fans to buy more tickets. And BYU fans would be calling for Corbin's head if Jimmer didn't get 30 minutes a game. It would become nothing more than a distraction.

The only people "blind" here are the BYU fans that keep making these ridiculous threads about bringing Jimmer to Salt Lake. Knock it off, idiots.
 
Someone will have to find a link about KOC saying he wanted to draft Jimmer. I never heard that nor that he was trying to position to draft him. KOC is always polite and complimentary talking about him but what is new. I seriously doubt the Jazz take Jimmer over Burks if they were both still on the board. And I am amazed that anyone can think Jimmer is an upgrade at this point over Watson or Tinsley. Those two are both serviceable back ups. Jimmer may become that and I would not be surprised to see him become a Jason Terry type guy. Based upon last year - no where close. Again, his coach admittted he was not sure he could make Jimmer a NBA PG and JF struggled to get minutes on a bad team with a rookie playing in front of him. It is not coincidence that Kings signed Brooks.

Agree on the defense and the shooting.

I disagree about the rest.

The passing has looked better this summer league. He doesn't set people up very much but his passing is timely and on target. For a scoring guard it is okay.

As for getting to the rim, is it really necessary? If he can draw foul on his way to rim he can get his points at the free throw line. It is only summer league but in the last two games he was very aggressive going at the rim and shot 9 and 8 free throws.

Jimmer struggles to get separation against the best defenders, but with a screen or as a secondary offensive option he will still be able to score.

Though I still don't see a good fit with the Jazz, I believe the right situation will happen for Jimmer.
 
For what it's worth, Jimmer had a decent game yesterday. 10-21 FG, 2-6 3PFG, 4 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 4 TO. It was easily his best game of Summer League. He's averaging over 6 FTA per game. If he can bring the shooting and get to the free throw line when the games actually count, he'll stick around. Every team needs scorers. If he can improve his passing and defense that would be great, but even if he's never more than a one-dimensional scorer, if he does that well enough he'll be all right.

His best game was sub 50% shooting, more turnovers than assists, low 30% 3 pt shooting (which is his bread and butter, for being a great shooter, he is very below average)?

Pass.

I am a realist. I understand the hurdles the white players from BYU have to face, and how hard it is for BYU haters to support anyone from BYU, even if they are obviously in the top 25% of the league talent wise. It's too bad Sacramento sucks and don't just let him shoot. They should keep cousins, and get rid of all of the other black holes on the team. You can tell by Jimmer's sweet stroke that he is a better shooter than anyone else on the team. Maybe they are bringing in Brooks to feed Jimmer at the 2, but I don't expect them to be that smart. All you haters should chill out and give Jimmer a little room to grow instead of smothering him with your hatebreath. He has stardom in him, and in a few years you will be wishing he was on the Jazz.

What's this saying he could barely get to the rim garbage? Who cares about the rim if you can make the shot.

Even if you are so misguided into thinking he can only shoot, do we really have anyone on our team that can shoot? Do we have anyone that if we get them an open 3 everyone is thinking, dang... that is going in?

It's just one game, and it's just summer league. Steve Nash was the only guard in the NBA to shoot over 50% last year. Do you really think that Jimmer won't be enough of a shooter/scorere to have a decent career or are you just too high with your anti-BYU kool-aid?

Here is one game to be proud of in the summer league:

10-14 fg, 1-2 3 pt, 10-11 ft, 3 rebs. 31 pts.

They are playing against scrubs. Good players dominate scrubs. They don't have sub 50% shooting, more turnovers than assists. This isn't preseason basketball, it is summer league. It is a league where we start to wonder if players like Stockton can play. It is the league where Jeremy Evans looks good. Even Mo Almond excelled.

p.s. What were his other games like?
 
In all honesty, I'd be down to take a gamble on jimner if it weren't for the circus that comes along. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a decent career, it just won't be in Utah.
