Utah Jazz 2012-2013 Schedule

what no link to the schedule in a thread about the schedule, if I get carpel tunnel with the extra typing and clicking so help me.......

Ha, I was bitching to myself about it, so I decided to abuse my powers and put it on the first page. Thanks for posting all those fine links Mellow.

Damn, 60% of the games are on the road until New Years. Oh well, it used to seem that the end of the year was brutal for road games, so it's nice to see the reverse for a change.

Not one game on TNT. Sheesh.

If I'm not missing anything, it looks like the longest road trip and longest home stand are 4 games. I'm not sure on the road trips, but it seems like there is usually a longer home stand than that.

It seems there's usually one five game road trip each season, so not having one of those is nice.

While I agree it also seems like there's a 6 or so game home stand a season, there is a stretch where the Jazz play 15 out of 20 in Salt Lake, in January/February. Hopefully that's the prime spot they can put things together.

Feel free to enhance or augment my posts if you see a good opportunity.

Only if I can somehow very marginally benefit from it!

Hopefully going to be able to get some of my Hornet's friends to make the trip for the November 2nd game.

A nice anecdotal tweet about complaining over the schedule (from HoopsHype)

Steve Bulpett: Years ago, sked gets to Pacers. Carlisle complains. Harter complains. Bird says, "41 home, 41 away. Yup. Looks good to me." Twitter

I was just about to post this. Great minds must think alike.

That early road stretch could help the bonding of our new guys/young core. It could also put us in an early hole. It will be interesting to see how we respond out of the gates.

No TNT games is a bit shocking. We've given them some nice buzzer beaters over the past few years. Personally, I just love the way the TNT games look on HD. They are a cut
above any Root or local broadcast. Even ESPN. Oh well Nate. Maybe next year.

Well considering there is only a potential 15 games I'm going to be able to potentially watch, I'm going to have to trust this board to give me a truthful analysis of the games. Joy.

Just find online streams and make sure you have good anti-virus protection on your computer.

No games on TNT? I now know what I want to see from Utah. I want them to barnstorm the damn NBA and knock people on their asses. Make TNT desperate to cover their games.

I'm with you. Until this slight I would have been content watching the Jazz struggle through the season being barely relevant, but now that I can tell Ted Turner that it's obvious he (or at least his minions) vastly underestimated the entertainment value of this team (and I guarantee you I'm going to rub it in his face every time I have a conversation with him) it's on like Donkey Kong! Bring it, boys. NO MERCY!!!

the bird tweet is right... there is very little difference between one team's sked and the next team's sked. i tend to look at four things: 1) how tough is our start, 2) how tough is our finish, 3) where & how bad are the longest road trips, 4) who are the conference teams we only face 3x instead of 4x? outside of those 4 things, i figure everything else will even out across 30 teams.

1) the opening sked matters because of how reactionary fans and the media are. getting off to a nice start can sort of inflate a team's sense of quality without enhancing their ACTUAL quality. but alas, the jazz usually get a rough slate to start and this year is no different: dal, @noh, @sas, @mem, lal, @den. six games they very well could lose.

2) the last few years, it seems the jazz have had a cushier finish, while other teams with whom they're jockeying for position are paying the proverbial piper. this was definitey true of houston who had to run the gauntlet in the last few games while the jazz were being rewarded for having already played the tougher part of their sked. this year we end on a 9-game stretch of bkn, por, den, noh, @gsw, okc, min, @min, @mem. 6 of the final 9 at home, and only one elite team (although brooklyn, denver and memphis will all probably be at least GOOD).

3) true to form, we have the early eastern trip in mid-nov, the pre-christmas eastern swing, and a trip in march... but none are longer than 4 games.

4) 3x opponents are dallas (2 home, 1 away), san anto (1 home, 2 away), lakers (1 home, 2 away) and golden state (2 home, 1 away). nice to get an extra break from the spurs and lakers, although i'd prefer they be the teams that we get saved from a road game, not a home game. now losing those 2 season series 1-2 or 0-3 seems a lot more likely.

Opening night: Heat-Celtics on TNT! Mavs-Lakers on TNT! Cavaliers-Wizards

Wow, April appears to be pretty good for the Jazz.

1-vs potland
3- vs Den
5-vs NO
7- at GS
9 vs OKC
12 vs Minny
15 at Minny
17- at Memphis

Extremely favorable end to the schedule...

I don't think that's all that favorable of an end. Especially if GS and Minny improve as much as they could. We could end up with as many as 7 of 8 being against playoff teams.
