Team Spycam1

PG- Lebron James / Tony Parker
SG- Ray Allen / Allen Iverson
SF- Vince Carter / Andrie Kirilenko
PF- David Robinson / Chris Webber
C- Patrick Ewing / Chris Bosh

Team Enes CanTear You Apart

PG- John Stockton / Walt Frazier
SG- George Gervin / Tracy McGrady
SF- Scottie Pippen / Bernard King
PF- Pau Gasol / Kevin Love
C- Dwight Howard / Andrew Bogut

Spycam1's case:

Down low:

Robinson and Ewing would dominate the likes of Howard and Gasol. Both of my starting bigs have had seasons where they averaged nearly 30 points per game, and season where they averaged 4 blocks per game. Howard and Gasol would greatly struggle to score against my bigs, and while Dwight would do as good of a job as any on the defensive end, can you really imagine Pau guarding Robinson or Ewing? That would be funny. I would exploit that match up time and time again.

3 point shooting:

ECTYA's starting lineup has very little 3 point shooting. Gervin was a career 27% shooter from deep, and Pippen was a 32% shooter. Stockton was good, but other than that, his starting lineup doesn't have good floor spacing, IMO. Where as my team has the greatest 3 point shooter of all time in Ray Allen spreading the floor, along with Vince Carter who averaged over 40% from 3 for two consecutive seasons, and is a career 37% shooter. Not to mention Lebron is a career 33% shooter from deep, which is more than Pippen or Gervin.

Lebron:

If Stockton guards Lebron, then Lebron could simply back him down into the post and score right over the top of him. However, if Pippen guards Lebron, then will Stockton be guarding Vince Carter? Either way, Stockton will be at a HUGE size and athleticism disadvantage. Whatever miss match there is, it would be exploited (along with whoever Pau is guarding).

Overall:

I could go on, but when it comes down to it, I think ECTYA's team would struggle a lot to score on my bigs down low, and doesn't have the 3 point shooting to make up for it. I would also have at least two major mis matches on the offensive end that could be exploited. This is all, of course, concerning the starting 5's, but I feel my bench is better too: Iverson > McGrady and Webber > Love etc. My team is too big and too talented, with too many mismatches in their advantage.

Spycam's team takes a huge hit having Carter starting.

James at PG is interesting, but is he really going to want to guard Stockton through tons of pick n rolls he is doing with Howard and Gasol?

James won't be posting up Stockton. because they would obviously put Pippen on James on the other end. Stockton would probably guard Allen, who is going to be a glorified spot up shooter, so it wouldn't be an impossible cover.

Carter spreads the floor with his 3 point shooting, and moves very well off the ball to catch alley-oops from Lebron. He also could average 5APG, taking some of the playmaking duties off of Lebron (so could Allen).

Carter has never been a huge help to a team as a spot-up shooter. He made the Magic, Suns, and Mavs all worse when he played that role.

As a playermaker his teams were all terrible.

Shoot the ball from 20 feet in.

Not every PF needs to shoot 20 footers.

I get what you're saying, but I really don't think Robinson would be hard for him. Can he...

Post up? Yes.

Hit the mid range jumper? Yes.

Run the pick n' roll? Yes.

Guard the pick n' roll? Yes.

Guard someone posting up? Yes.

Have the speed and athleticism to keep up with PF's? Yes.

This is just an interesting match up, I've always wondered how Lebron James would do playing the point guard position the entire game. It doesn't help that he would be taking the ball up the court against, more than likely, Scottie Pippen and sending passes into passing lanes guarded by John Stockton.

If anyone could do it, however, it would be Lebron... He's a beast.

I bolded players I have not seen play much, making evaluating them even more speculative than the others.
Opinions on their mathups will be considered.

I have only seen King and Bogut play.

Bernard King deserved to be drafted in this tournament, he was a premiere scorer and had a presence about him when he was on the floor.

Andrew Bogut is a Ute. So, yeah...

As for the 2nd unit, Frazier should guard Parker well. He was known for his defense. 3 point shooting weakness would also covered by Tmac and Love.

James finally getting a true low post defender (actually two of them) puts it over the top for me. Good work Spycam.
