Official Utah Utes Football 2012 Thread

I do think that it was lame to rush the field the first time. 2nd time, everyone was already there. 3rd time was a legit field rushing opportunity after sooooo much BS.

I rushed the field the third time, ran straight for the byu players, saw cops surrounding them with their hands held up and decided not to get tasered.

What was the plan when you got to the BYU players?

So, UGLi, what were you going to do once reaching the BYU players? Ask them to recite their ABC's?

He just texted me that he was going to throw beer on them and then run like hell. How funny would it have been to see UGLI on tv, throwing beer toward the players, missing badly, smiling ear to ear as he turns to run, then face plants after getting tasered. I can picture it as if it really happened.

Good job Utes and good job fans. Yes, you are classless morons and you rushed the field twice when you shouldn't have but you did more good than bad. Clearly, the offense was affected by the noise. To me that may have been the biggest factor in the game.

Utah was the better team last night. But you will always be little brother no matter what happens.

Fun 4th quarter. Good times.

BRIAN JOHNSON is awful. Run-run-throw gets easy to defend when you keep doing it over and over again. I get that he wanted to establish a run game, but minus JWIV, there wasn't much there. Lots of 3rd and long.

Right let's not run the ball and allow BYU to put extra players in pass coverage, because Johnson didn't abandon the run game, it forced BYU to keep extra players in the box allowing big plays down field like the 39 yard td he threw to Anderson. I thought Johnson called a great game and put Hays in a position to succeed.

Johnson is not very creative but that is why he is OC. Whit just wants an offense that can run the ball and not turn it over. And Johnson does that. He is never going to win a shootout or be creative or have an OC job outside of Utah. But for Whit's philosophy he does fine. Offense is like 3rd priority at Utah.

Doman should take a lesson here. When against stout defenses you just take what they give.

I am a super spazz type fan that lives and dies with every play. I was literally losing my mind with all of the bs at the end of the game. After seeing us win 3 times and in such epic fashion (DOINK!) there was not a lot of thoughts going through my head.

I just jumped onto the field, started yelling "yea bitches!" or something, then I got about 5 feet from the byu players and yelled something dumb like "they gave you 4 chances! 4 chances ahahahahahahahaha!"

pretty cool huh? I am a cool guy.

This x 1 million.

Can't believe people are criticizing him after we won the game with no John White and with our backup QB (granted Hays is better than Wynn.)

Hays is a badass but he is pretty limited and it's insane to even consider abandoning the run and just have him wing it all around the field. I thought we were way to conservative trying to preserve the victory in the 4th, but a lot of OC's wouldve done the same.

Gotta remember too that there is going to be some growing pains for Johnson as OC in the first year. I think he's doing fine.

Well let me respond to that directly.

But they usually aren't. Calling it a call on a technicality is almost gracious in and of itself. You know how bad it was. The game was over. BYU got ANOTHER kick AND 15 yards because the field began to be rushed after the clock struck 0 and the Utes had the ball. You know how bad it was, I can tell.

I mean, really, truly awful. I'm not a scholar on the history of the game, but in my limited memory, I cannot think of a call so lopsided against the practicality of the game and in favor of a team in a win/lose situation. Unbelievable.

I know this is going back in the thread a while, but I said before, I wouldn't have made that call. It was potentially disastrous for the Utes. I've never seen it called before, and I hope I never do again.

Let's give Johnson a year before judging him instead of three games.

But enough with the Wilson running plays.

Nobody suggested abandoning the run game. But Johnson has to mix it a little better. His immaturity as an OC was pretty evident, and we benefitted more from our defense and the fact that Doman called an even worse game.

Crediting Johnson for the win makes me LOL.

The refs did suck last night. But they sucked for both sides.
@Bronco: both of those fumbles that got reviewed and overturned were incompletions. The replays showed his arm coming forward when the ball came out.
I do disagree with the PF call in the end zone against the Ute DB, and I probably wouldn't have called the face mask in the end zone on that first drive either. But there were some bad no calls that went the Utes way as well.
When all is said and done, Utah made the big plays to win the game (although I'm still pissed at Alisa for not just covering up that fumble. That's the first thing you're taught for hell's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!). Bronco is an emotionless robot and it affects the players.

Getting called classless by a fan of a team that marches their flag throught the opponent band and bumps into them while they try and do their routine is hilarious. Getting called classless by a fan base that has a player intentionally attempting to seriously injure the opponent after the whistle is even more funny.
