Romney Fundraiser - Secret Taping

It sounds like Romney really wants to increase taxes on the half of the people below the median income, in order to pay for lowering taxes for the upper end.

The lowest 50% are not paying any taxes right now. What about them paying their fair share?

It sounds like Romney really wants to increase taxes on the half of the people below the median income, (even as he wants to minimize taxes on the rich.)

I have it on good word that Romney told his rich private donors in Utah today that he would not be able to lower taxes on the rich & would focus on the middle class instead. He told this to the rich.

Huh? Based on what?

Nevermind. Not biting.
Just look at the quotes that this thread is about, along with vague references his side has made about "lowering the rate and broadening the base". It sure looks that way to me. Don't worry Mr. 1 Percenter, he's on your side.

I read his exact words today but have not yet watched the video. As someone who considers himself a conservative liberal (I lean more left), I didn't find too much wrong with his statement. We need to stop romanticizing ****, like this country for one, and call a spade a spade. As a nation, we're in the ****ter financially and the entitlement that people feel they deserve is baffling to me. As a teacher, we have currently had to pay more and more into our healthcare and this will rise over the next few years. I hear people at work bitch about this (it does suck, essentially our pay stays the same year to year because while we get nominal raises, more is taken out for healthcare) as if they deserve this or that and I'm not sure why. Were our great bennies part of the reason we became teachers? Sure, to some degree. But to bitch and moan about paying 10% of your healthcare (it will max at 30% in a few years for me) is absurd.

That said, here's what I have a problem with. The 47% who aren't paying taxes aren't paying them for the same reason Romney essentially pays jack**** himself. The system. The 47% didn't make the tax laws. People in positions of power, like Romney, did. They're just doing what he's done for the last couple decades, taking advantage of a system that is royally screwed.

I read every other sentence and agreed with every one of them.
Repd.

To Romney middle class is 250K, maybe even 500k, or a million or more, the top end of that range under his perspective might surprise us.

Romney says he'll never convince 47% of the population to take responsibility for their lives.
He was not talking about just the election. Maybe he misspoke, but he basically said that he will not be able to relate to half the population, which tells me he doesn't care about those people and won't even try to relate to them.

How did you figure this out?

Kicky over-reached on his moderating powers and declared that PW's IP address didn't match any other poster's. In the same message, kicky said PW is typing from American Fork.

I make the other conclusions based on the fact that PW makes as much sense as Borat and has insider(ish) knowledge of the board. Maybe PW is his second account at work, but he does post at night.

Are you some hack media member?

I believe some alt accounts abandon their primary/first account. Whether voluntarily or involuntarily.

Had Romney been born to Latino parents, came here (illegally), and lived on a farm I wonder if he'd harbor the same attitudes?

So much of Romney is based on his ah-hem, blessed childhood. He makes it sound like he was some rags to riches guy who has worked his *** off to make millions. Please child please.

It's easy to steal for home when you begin on third base, your daddy has bought off the pitcher, the ump is your daddy's best friend, and your team is already up by 10 runs.

Millions of Americans currently part of that 47 % would be where Mitt is today had they been born to Mitt's parents.
Mitt would be where 47 % of Americans are today had he been born to the "chaff" he so fiercely despises.

.

I can agree with the first sentence but not necessarily the second.
