Don't worry, Re: Chicago. I'm going there on Wed and the ND game in South Bend is on Saturday so we're forced to stay in that general area for 3 or 4 days. Though any Chicago time spent elsewhere would fall victim to Detroit. I'm honestly pretty curious about Detroit though so I'm tempted.
About what? I've lived there. Out of the 17 states and 4 countries I've lived in, it was the only place I didn't enjoy. Like I said, Put-in-Bay is pretty cool side trip. If you like to fish, Port Clinton is also the walleye fishing capital of the world.
The degradation of the place is where my curiosity lies. I just like having some actual experience to reference. So when the news is screaming about how bad Detroit's plight is, I can have a first hand account of that. That's personally one of the reasons I like to travel. The more places you go, the clearer your picture of the world becomes in my mind.
How come there's no liberals in this topic telling people to go to Detroit?
Lamberts, home of throwed rolls.
Went to school in MO.
Because this topic has nothing to do with your damned attempts to turn it political. Don't like that? Then sit on a stick and spin. I hope you get splinters that get infected.
Let me try this again.
How come nobody recommends Detroit? I can't imagine what's wrong with that city.
(your last remark was completely unnecessary by the way)
I already explained why I don't recommend Detroit. There's nothing to do there and it's depressing.
