Preseason Game #2: OKC at UTAH

The way Kanter brings energy, runs the floor, rebounds and scores opportunistically--it's going to be hard to keep him off the floor. He's improving fast.

And can Hayward and favors please make some shots from the field!

It's good to see the Jazz being aggressive with 31 fouls shot (only 21 makes). That's a big improvement. But 1 pt and 4 rebounds in 19 mins ain't gonna cut it for Favors, despite his blocks. I don't see him surpassing Millsap for a starting position. I fear he's been mostly hype. Even CJ had a few great games here and there.

What the hell are you going on about? Favors is not an unknown quantity. We already know he's a good player. He's already a top rate defender. He already has significant effect on the games. Nobody here is questioning whether Favors can play. What is this? 2010? The question we all have is whether Favors turns out only to be a situation defensive expert and a quality rotation player, or the all-star he can clearly be.

I was skeptical of the Kanter hype and thought maybe it was going to be a dud like so many hyped up offseasons of players before, but after getting a first hand glance his body transformation really did help his game out as much as people were saying. I'm impressed. Big difference between summer league Enes Kanter and now.

Nice to see Enes improved in almost every part of his game. He still has the sickness to fail to see who's coming at him at the low post and bringing the ball down, but it can only get better. Good game for him 12-12.

LOVING this.... I don't care if OK didn't play anybody, a win is a win. I thought we've got some guys in great shape. Nice dunks from kanter and burks. Nice shooting from kanter from the outside.

He's not a "KNOWN" quantity. Far from it. He was extremely inconsitent last season. He had 3 decent playoff games. But I maintain we still don't know if he will be a top-tier starter. Jazz had one of the best EVER defenders in Mark Eaton. But they were constantly playing 4 on 5 on offense because he couldn't shoot. Ronnie B. was a decent player, but had no outside shot. AK was a fantastic defender when he wanted to be, but was wildly inconsistent on the other end. Adn what happened to all those teams, even with 1 or 2 of the best players in the NBA on them? Defeated in the playoffs. You can't have major, glaring weaknesses in this league.

Favors, right now, is a defensive player only. He hasn't shown that he can be a consistent scorer. And until he does, the Jazz are not going to win against upper-level competition...not when that team can justy ignore one of the Jazz players on offense. Or just hack him if he does get the ball close to the hoop.

Put everything athletic ability-wise aside, Enes' ability to read the game, watch and foresee the moves of his teammates and especially his P&R defense now that he's faster has improved a lot from what we see.

Pretty worthless game as far as evaluating anything considering both teams played screwy lineups. My only personal takeaway is I like the emphasis on pushing the ball. In general, great idea. Otherwise, this was a higher level summer league game.

Didnt really care about the Evans contract this off-season but now it looks like a terrible waste of money, hopefully he wins another dunk contest and pays off his contract to the jazz in merchandise sales.

But Kanter, how can you not believe in this guy? He just keeps getting better and better, its going to be scary what hes gonna be bringing to the table a few years down the road.

Im calling it right now, Kanters career averages WILL be a double-double.
