What's new

Overhyping Favors

And you know this how?

Would it have really been necessary for me to say (In my opinion), there is no way...?

But anyone who read the press statements can figure out what the new arrangement is. A few quotes:

The Trib: As for their roles, O'Connor will continue to oversee the Jazz from an executive position, and Lindsey will be the go-to guy who deals with the daily grind, the ins and outs, and working with agents, players and potential trade partners around the league to build the team.

Rigby: He will be a key element of our basketball operations staff that we already believe is the best in the league

KOC: I've got a new playmate. (yeah, well, he said it.)

Any way you read between the lines, KOC was not fired into upper management, or retiring. He's basically grooming Lindsey who will, one day, have all the power KOC currently has.

This.

Jazz were already one of the few teams without an assistant GM. As Lindsey already had that title, he had to get a promotion in order to be hired away from the Spurs.

With half the team unsigned for next season, there's going to be double the usual workload. Generally, the team is pretty set from year to year, adding just the drafts picks anda FA or two. Next off-season is going to be extremely interesting: cap space, possibly two picks, including one in the mid-lottery, and negotiations with Al, Paul, Mo, perhaps an extension for Marvin. Lot going on.
